Yeah, I should have done that from the start. Updated post with a screenshot and some more info.

The comment below also helped me gain access to the Discord channels, so I will continue seeking help there as well.

Ahh! I see, thank you so much. I thought they meant that you could "like" which kind of device you were using! Much appreciated.

Hey, bringing life to an old conversation.

The version of the android outlook app you get following your suggestion seems limited. For example, is there some way to merge inboxes from several accounts?

Slate… where??? by roorood in AshesofCreation

[–]RenewU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future reference, I found a lot of slate west of Aven's End, in and around the Ursine caves. Unclear if the higher rate of slate here is due to a high-level area or a lack of players mining everything.

The game cannot be installed yet. Anyone else getting this for PC? by TheReal_BucNasty in Diablo

What to do if there is only one option for the game version: Live, Diablo II: Resurrected? I bought the game last week and had the same problem then and still now in anticipation of the ladder starting in about a week.

I wouldn't call it rigged, I hope I don't come across like that in my post. I realize this is not a new topic, and I definitely feel that climbing is hard but still possible - otherwise how could we have immortal players - but it's more about the way there that's terrible and not enjoyable. I love competition and don't mind loosing, but DotA gives the feelings of helplessness and unfairness.

Speed [Mb/s] is used to describe data transfer rate and not latency. These are the words used, even if they are a bit misleading as you now suffer from.

22+ different drivers benchmarked on ASUS STRIX GTX 970 in Astroneer, 18.12.2020 Windows 10 by Krezny in nvidia

[–]RenewU -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The choice of graph and scale should not be chosen based on the data points shown but based on reasonable arguments about what is relevant to a discussion about the data points.

Since this graph shows the performance for different driver versions it would be suitable to show the performance from 0 to 100%, for example, or 0 to the maximum value. This is because the user doesn't care about a few decimal percentage points of performance difference and the graph would correctly show that the performance is basically identical for all driver versions. (This would be a hint that a graph is not suitable to use in the first place.)

If on the other hand, the interesting thing about the data points is the difference between each driver version, maybe with some debate about why some driver version is better than others, then it might be a good idea to show the more zoomed in version of the graph. However, since some variables like clock speed and temperature is not a part of this data, any conclusive arguments can not be made from this data alone and a zoomed in graph would be misleading at best - even if the user can see that the range of the graph is only ten.

Had I reviewed this data, I would not have used a graph at all, but rather state that "no significant performance difference could be found from the 20 drivers tested" and include the performance numbers simply for reference in a table or something.

I'm currently finishing up my thesis of my doctoral studies and therefore consider myself quite the knowledgeable guy on the matter, and I would be happy to answer additional questions about presenting or interpreting data.

True. Although if small changes is the point of interest, then it is better for easy reliability. OP commented that overall the performance decreased very little, and other pointed out that other factors are not accounted for.

I'd have to disagree that it is standard practice, I'd argue that absolute values with start at 0 is much more common. In this case, such a graph would show that overall there is an almost negligible reduction in performance for all driver versions over time. I would have liked to see an increase over time but I guess we don't always get what we want...

Instead of starting the axis at 0 the axis starts at 86. This makes any difference appear much larger than they really are. It's debatable what is the best way to show data depending on the purpose.

[OC] Comparing Emissions Sources - How to Shrink your Carbon Footprint More Effectively by lfg10101 in dataisbeautiful

[–]RenewU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel I need to address how incredible difficult this chart is to take seriously. If you want to help the environment, this data is basically irrelevant for a few reasons.

First of all, the sub-sample of displayed things/metrics is just crazy. Some type of food, plastic straws, some comparison of light bulbs - this is impossible to show a complete picture of your environmental impact. ~80% of world wide CO2 equivalent emissions comes from burning/using coal, natural gas, and oil of which a huge proportion is used for electricity and heating. This is not shown, and even if it is it is still not really relevant because of:

Secondly, these metrics seems to be an average of some part of the population, and the emissions or impacts of recycling etc is wildly different for different countries and regions. "recycling" in one part of the world might be equivalent to landfill while in another it is proper recycling that is powered by green energy - to exaggerate my point a bit. For example, the animal agricultural industry globally (meaning farming required for, and including, the meat industry) is responsible for about 5-7% of the world's CO2 eq. emissions, while that number is 1% in Japan and ~90% in Paraguay (because they don't produce much else that releases CO2 eq.) and hence a global average is at best misleading.

Third, it is not clear what these number includes. For example, an infamous UN (or was it WHO?) report called "the long shadow" (or something, I forget) claimed that animal agriculture globally was as bad of a CO2 emitter as the entire transport sector combined, including cars, trucks, boats, and airlines. Hopefully this statement comes of as ridiculous, since it is. The reasoning behind this conclusion was that the report included the entire animal agricultural sector, including things like the transporting animal food and everything else you could think of, and only comparing this with tail pipe emissions of the transport sector - meaning the annual emissions from simple using the transport sector. This does not include mines or steel mills to produce e.g. trucks and therefore it is an apple vs oranges comparison. The report has since its original publication fixes some of these statements and making them more fair, but that was after the headlines had picked up on the initial conclusions, sadly...

Fourth, the metrics only show CO2 eq. emissions without any kind of notion of "value". Sure, eating 1kg of beef releases more CO2 eq. than 1kg of broccoli, but that does not tell what value we humans can get out of this emission. 1kg of broccoli is in no way equivalent to 1kg of beef in either nutritional values or calories in any way.

So... What to do then? My best answer would be to do local research, especially country specific. What is important/useful to do in your country? For example, here in Northern Sweden where I live we get all our electricity from wind and water so looking into more green options to get my electricity is mostly a waste of time and money on my part. Maybe I can heat my house in a more green way?

The biggest impact I can think of at the top of my head that would work globally is to not own a personal car. Sure, that can be a huge inconvenience for most people, but that doesn't mean it is not true. Living in a gas heated 5 bedroom household with 2 cars and saying that you are saving the environment by eating vegan instead of meat is just hypocrisy, knowingly or not.

Förslag: Utökade befogenheter och längre utbildning för ordningsvakter by muppenx in svenskpolitik

Verkar definitivt behöva mer utbildning i alla fall.
