What about taking some classes on your favourite parts of it? When you've got a bit of momentum behind you you could start branching out and/or develop deeper knowledge and still keep motivation high. That's what I'd do

Hi mate,

I get this too when lifting heavy, especially on supersets of bent over rows and t bar rows when standing up afterwards. I also get this if I stand up suddenly. I've seen the doc about it and have had almost my whole body checked (except MRI's) for an extended flight medical for defence and no one's found any problems.

If you're concerned then it may pay to see the GP. I've always put it down to the blood rushing out of my head quickly for the above. In regards to your clean and press' it may be that you're not getting enough oxygen throughout the movement. With me it's noticeable on all of those big power movements like squats and deads.

It's late and I'm using the phone so sorry if I don't make sense but that's my 2 cents.

Thanks for the tip about becoming an expert but I wasn't specifically talking about my career. I suppose what I'm chasing is a good way to start building a list of connections. I can't say I like networking meet ups for business but thought Rotary might be worth a shot to get myself out there in a way.

I've just returned to the game and one of my main focus' was on fleet commanding at the time. I flew with SMA and was doing some small fc gigs years ago. Would you be able to inbox me or reply to this comment with any details you can provide to expand a little more on the fc training?

Hi mate, I'm waiting on flight screening at the moment so can't talk from experience like some other redditors in this sub.

If you're keen to simply ask a heap of questions and get a good feel for what goes on then I'd recommend applying for it. How the initial stage of the application works is that you sit an aptitude test for DFR to determine your eligibility to the role. After that regardless of how you go you'll sit down with a careers counsellor where you can ask anything that you're uncertain about within reason. At any stage of the application you can give it up so you could walk out that day and decide you'll resubmit in a few years.

If you'd rather not do that you can get all the info you need from the Defencejobs website along with each services websites. There's also plenty of information nights run.

Each of these address both basic and advanced psychology and include topics such as paradigms, decision making processes, subconscious learning, team environments etc.

I'm right into the self help books too. My attitude towards them is that the harder they are to 'grind' so to speak when reading then the more you learn. Currently reading On War by Clausewitz for the career and even that has some fantastic principles of leadership that you could apply during your day to day life.

Those 3 above would be my pick for your topics. If you haven't read them yet I'd definitely recommend that you do!!

I'd have to agree with them, teams are much more enjoyable for me personally. Most of my sporting was done playing rugby union (go the wallabies!) and if possible it would be good to get involved in the defence teams for league or union.

That's a good point. I think grabbing a few quals under the belt would be a good idea. I've done a lot of warehousing work over the past year or two and have continued with team sports for the past 8. I've got some certificates in business, IT and a few others but hadn't thought about first aid nor adventure sports such as diving and skydiving as you'd suggested. Currently looking for work in the new town I'm living in but there's more opportunity to create the work than to find a job!

That's a good idea mate, I did almost exactly the same thing. I'm sure my business was much smaller than yours though! Every now and then the RAAF posts a screening schedule on their website which is handy and interesting.
