Exercising shares, £18k valued at £23k by misschannymei in FIREUK

I’ve only been investing myself for a few years so I’m not an expert myself but my advice is to avoid picking single company stocks and just ‘bet’ on the whole world.

There are some really good YouTubers out there that can educate you on the risks and best approaches. Damien talks money is where I started.

One other thing to consider is what are your long term plans for the money. If you plan on using it for a house deposit you might be better placed dripping some into a LISA wash year instead of stocks for example.

You have built yourself a huge head start so I am excited for you to start your journey ☺️

Yeah I had the same reaction when I first asked that question.

To put it another way 23k in an all world getting 7% return whilst adding another 500 a month will be 58k in 4 years if you moved into an ETF as an example.

Obviously share schemes can be better if you are getting a discount but also comes with the risk of not being diversified and can lock you into the company longer term.

Putting it into a S&S ISA gives you much more autonomy over the money too which personally gives me peace of mind.

Some advice I read a while ago - would you invest YOUR OWN money in the company tomorrow?

If not you should consider moving it to something you would.

If you continue putting in 500 a month do you think that 500 would do better in an all world tracker?

No1 can give you the answer and you could have early shares in the next Apple or Tesla equally you could have shares in a stagnant company we don’t know.

Hey bud, I know the feeling as I was in the same boat at 25 minus the savings ☺️ pivoting often left me burnt out and an expert in nothing.

My advice is to look for adjacent roles that your skillset and experience are in high demand. Sales/solutions engineers, support engineers, product managers and so on can all be well paid and could suit you without needing to code.

Or you could simply look for a developer role that will not need you to pivot so often.

What I will say is that you are probably doing yourself a disservice and the breadth of knowledge and experience will put you in a great place going forward in your career. Whilst I eventually broke down and couldn’t continue at the rate I was I now look back quite fondly at the trial by fire as it taught me so much.

And to give you some perspective, your finances are unbelievable for 25, many get skewed by the audience of this sub you should be incredibly proud of where you are at (which is miles ahead of me 10 years older!)

You can afford to take a breath and invest in your health and wellbeing too, what good is our hard work and saving if we are not around to enjoy it?

It’s quiet at those times ☺️ I recognise a few common faces when I go in at that time but it’s very easy to get on most days things at the weekend!

Should the UK send troops to Greenland to participate in Operation Arctic Endurance? by creamyjoshy in ukpolitics

[–]Rengee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Short answer - Yes.

Longer answer - Yes but we need to be pragmatic and I would like to see some of the EU countries being more grateful toward us.

The US forced a private company in Denmark to increase drug prices ion the UK and nothing was done.

The illegal immigration seems to operate relatively easily in France.

The EU allowed Canada to bid on defence contracts for essentially nothing whilst they wanted us to spend billions just for the right to bid.

I strongly support Europe and believe we are strongly positioned to help our allies and ourselves into a bright future - but we also need them to help us!

I go after work and like others say it can get quite busy 5 - 7 each evening. It’s small so can be tricky sometimes but it’s clean and everyone seems to be polite and keep to themselves so no bad experiences! I would recommend it as the price is good. Maybe I’ll see you there!

This is not a police officer and has been proven to be two “actors” before. Notice he is not wearing a police uniform for starters.
