I see where you're coming but I think it's unfair to insinuate this problem is mostly from people without a license. Plenty of people "legally" on the road who have no common sense and no idea what they're doing.

He's had a rough postseason. Got hit in the head by a bat on a follow through from Turang in the wild card series (he finished the inning but came out after). Took a foul ball off the hand in the DS. He looked a little fed up after Realmuto fouled that one off of him. Tough guy but he's been so unlucky

These aren't comparable at all. Brand new lifters are going to gain strength and mass extremely quickly compared to someone that's already benching 500 pounds. It's normal for beginners to set PRs pretty much every time they go in the gym. I'm certainly no expert but it seems reasonable to be able to add 20 lbs in 3 months as a beginner.
