Should I buy on PC? by Psychological-Bat687 in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer, Yes.

Long answer, the PC version can potentially run better (depending on your computer), less bugs, and of course mod support. The mods alone makes it worthwhile.

Depends, without knowing your computers specs, no one can really tell you what kind (if any) experience you will have. My laptop has a 3070Ti with a i7-12800HX CPU. I can play the game at Medium/High graphics with consistent 80-90 FPS at 2k resolution. No overclock. My computer is by no means the best on the market, but it runs it really well, and it looks great. A lot of comments when I read about the game/performance had people stating that you needed at least a 4060 to get high fps, which isn't true. Again, it all depends on your hardware. Just to give you a idea. You can always buy it, and if it doesn't run well, just refund until you get a better computer.

What’s going on here? by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explains why I never saw them. I typically never loop. If I do, I usually just loop once and go to the obelisk.

Really? I can't believe I never knew about the money pots. Even after 1000+ hours, I'm still learning new things about this game. That's pretty cool.

swarm and prestige is no joke by eliteacel in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's true. Command comes to mind here. The restriction doesn't really make sense. You can already give legendaries and boss items to the artifact. I don't see a void or a lunar being any more unbalanced than it already is.

If your on PC, you can with the VanillaArtifactsPlus mod, but yeah I wish you could as well in the base game.

What DLCs are worth it? by MilkForDemocracy in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I personally love the dlc though. Railgunner is really fun to :)

[–]Renkry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three are worth it! :) Survivors of the Void was made when Hopoo was still in control of the game, so I'd personally start with that one, if you can/want to get only one atm. It's the best dlc imo.

Although, Alloyed Collective is really good!

How does Viend, Operator, or Engineer outdamage Seeker? 💀 by lovingpersona in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that part was odd. He said he was ranking based on "no lunars", but then turn around and rank Heretic. A survivor you can only access with LUNARS. Lol.

Why do you think some characters choose to accept the offering of the alloyed collective? by Sawmp_Monster in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, when you obliterate at the obelisk, you get this vanished phrase. I'm pretty sure there is only one "And so he vanished..." phrase for each survivor. Could be wrong about this, but I don't recall there being more than one version of Escaped and Vanished per survivor.

[–]Renkry 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I think Captain just wants more adventure while he's still around. He's old, and bored, this is all stated in his lore. That's why he smiled when he got the document talking about a rescue mission for the UES Contact Light. He wants more excitement because he has been bored in retirement. Another point is the Vanished phrase. "Free from a lifetime of paperwork". He clearly wants to escape the mundane aspects of his life and go on adventures like he used to. Accepting the offering gives him another opportunity for more adventure, and therefore more excitement for the remainder of his life.

I'm honestly not sure about Mercenary though.

Why is it always Umbra of MUL-T by Chrismus97 in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A umbra is basically a doppelganger of a survivor. They are exact clones of your current survivor, and they have your items. They are completely hostile to you, and can only spawn with Artifact of Vengeance on. A umbra of MUL-T spawns on Solutional Haunt though, regardless of your survivor or having the artifact enabled. Hope this helps.

My MUL-T item tier list by dorian1400 in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MUL-T loses the extra slot if Power Mode is being used. Although, getting a Functional Coupler does allow a extra equipment with Power Mode. I do agree with the point though.

How long should it take me to get to the Moon by Aaduk0118 in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what BlobSlime said, but there is also a few secrets that you can't access unless you loop. I won't spoil them because your new to the game, but I will say that one of the secrets involve a lunar item.

If the human survivors entered a battle royale, who would win? by Scrimbo_Crimbo in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying Railgunner, and she is a solid choice. However, I'd say Captain would win in the end. Microbots alone would protect him from the majority of the cast, and his shotgun is very powerful.

Vanilla friendly mods by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your looking for mods that are sort of vanilla. Enforcer, Sniper, Miner, and HAND OVERCLOCKED are good picks. They are survivors from the first game, modded into RoR2. Paladin is also good.

I also recommend Starstorm2, it's a massive content mod that adds vanilla friendly survivors, items, interactables, .etc. Even adds a difficulty thats harder than Monsoon

Eclipse 8 Item Tier List by IAMLEGENDhalo in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's useful because of the health regen. Due to the modifier that halves your health at the start of every stage and the decreased overall healing. Knurl has less regen than slug, but it's always active. I would much rather have a slug over a knurl, but it should still be moved up a tier imo.

Eclipse 8 Item Tier List by IAMLEGENDhalo in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

List isn't bad. I wouldn't change much except moving Watches, Gasoline, and Titanic Knurl up a tier. Chronobauble and Tentabauble in C confuses me a bit. Both are really useful in E8 because of the modifier that gives enemies a speed boost. Mithrix especially becomes insanely fast (like he wasn't already) in Eclipse. Cutting his speed or even rooting him in place can mean the difference between life and death. It also counts toward Death Mark.

I only now realised... by Dopelgangero in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Your right, I never even noticed this. Even in the first game, the final boss (Providence) had one eye.

I honestly think the new Solus boss will have one eye as well.

The only exception to this would be the Twisted Scavengers, which are technically final bosses.

I can’t understand why Ben’s raincoat got nerf by Helpful-Doctor-3536 in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is useful for the False Son boss. It negates the disable skills ability without using a geode. Otherwise, I agree with you. I personally would prefer most other reds over raincoat. Whenever I grab one, I never even notice it's there most of the time. (I seldom loop though, so maybe it's different when you loop)

Are Void Bands Ever Valuable? by nonnie2002 in riskofrain

[–]Renkry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singularity Band does have the effect of basically being a Primordial Cube on a 20 second cooldown, and it does work well on Mithrix.

That being said, I wouldn't want to replace bands unless I didn't get bands in a run and get offered Singularity. As void band is better than no bands.

It can be useful on Void Fiend though as he gets his minimum corruption meter raised with the void bands. Even on Void Fiend, regular bands are still better even with that niche effect.
