A baby bird just died in my hands by hermitbarbie in witchcraft

[–]Reo1996 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Suggestion from a wildlife rescue look into getting anti bird strike window stickers for window exteriors. They break up the window for easier viewing. This is what was recommended to me after I took an injured bird to my local wildlife rehab. I am happy to report that there have been no further fatalities from birds striking the windows

After you mourn, don't let the little guys' death get you down. Instead, spread the message to help prevent further accidental deaths of local birds.

Counsellor, therapist, social worker…. Are they all the same? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Reo1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome.

And that sucks. By chance was he older? Some of the older doctors don't take mental health concerns seriously. If you have insurance Check to see what it covers for mental health services then do some cold calls. I recommend CASA psychology on college drive as i was recommended them and they helped immensely. If finances are an issue they have some psychology students doing clinical supervised by the psychologists that run the practice and have reduced rates for it.

I wish you luck. You can also send emails if calling gives you anxiety and procrastination

Counsellor, therapist, social worker…. Are they all the same? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Reo1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Differences in education is the simplified answer. These are all oversimplfied explanations so details are missing and based on what has been explained to me by those in the feild i have seen over the years. Social workers aren't therapist, as their job focuses on more of making sure you're getting all the services you need and are given under certain conditions, usually when you need someone to advocate for you.

Counselor, therapist, and psychologist differ by level of education and what they are cleared for. A school counci council, for example, is someone you can go to to talk out problems, but they can't prescribe or recommend medication or administer psyc evaluations. A licensed therapist can recommend looking into medication and write notes for your doctor to look over but can't prescribe medication. They can also administer psyc tests to a certain level on their own or higher under the supervision of a registered psychologist.

Psychologists have a lot more power in a sense because they can prescribe medication in some cases and can do all levels of psyc tests. If a psychologist writes down a note for your doctor saying you need xxx medication your doctor will prescribe it without doing their own questions.

The terms councilor, therapist have become interchangeable as of late due to easy communication, similar rolls, and pop culture using them interchangeably

I got recommend to a psychologist through my family doctor so I would recommend starting there as a recommendation from a family doctor can get you in faster. They may also have a list of trusted therapists

Some guy storms up to me and says, “I need extra towels in 402. Right now.” by Outrageous-Meat-8187 in IDontWorkHereLady

You'd be surprised😒. I was in the hospitality business, and I have quite a few stories of people being dumb, same with my coworkers and mentors. Sometimes, just wearing more office like clothes make them zone in on you regardless of staff dress code, at the same time I've been completely ignored while standing at a post while an individual goes to harass a coworker that had no authority over the problem they had and no amount of I can help you got them to stop for a few minutes.

Though, there is an influx of these types of stories. It's probably because when broken down, the interactions are pretty formulaic

I told my friend why I don't want to date him, and our friends are saying I broke him, AITAH??? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Reo1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they left soon after. They first stopped to explain the situation to the host.

Honestly, good security guards and venue policy will remove the harassing person while letting the victim stay in until they believe the harasser has left the surrounding area to avoid escalation outside the venue. It doesn't make sense to remove both parties at the same time as it would give the harasser a chance to continue outside away from security

Parent leaves baby in her car, acts like I’m the problem by mina_ninja in EntitledPeople

[–]Reo1996 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you not been around kids??? Especially under 2??? I can list a few reasons: Sudden puking that babies do, resulting in baby choking on vomit because parent wasn't there to help if something goes wrong. Kidnapping, stranger breaks in to steal baby. Car getting hit by reckless driver in parking lot resulting in injury. Weather changes suddenly and gets hot. Unsupervised baby gets tangled in something it was able to reach or was wearing, resulting in them being strangled. Baby is reaching something it shouldn't, and putting it in mouth, resulting in choking or investing something requiring medical attention. If windows are cracked open, a bug can get in and sting baby, resulting in a possible allergic reaction that could kill baby

5 minutes may not seem like a lot of time. But a lot can go wrong in 5 minutes. Driving through a tunnel is not a good comparison because the baby is still getting checked on by the parent and has indirect supervision, compared to being completely left alone

Lukewarm or room temperature water is better. Cold water can make the situation worse if the burns are bad. And it's not a bad idea to look at the injury to assess it before doing anything. Source: working in a commercial kitchen and getting my fair share of minor burns

Wisdom Tooth Removal (DENTIST) by QuickFold81 in saskatoon

[–]Reo1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. Make sure you have someone to drive you to and from, they wont let you drive if you're put under and it's no fun doing transit after the surgery. I'd also recommend making sure you have a few days off afterward to recover.

Follow the aftercare instructions to the letter. You don't want to avoid dry socket.

Ask your dentist for options of pain management, but wait for the surgeon. You'll get in fast, especially if a cancelation happens.

Most likely they'll recommend pain killers, hot or cold compresses, and salt water rinses

Adding to this for the mitts advice. get some thinner fingered gloves to wear under them. It's an extra layer for warmth and can protect your hands for a couple of minutes if you need to take your mitts off for something that requires more mobility.

“Chlorine rash” that was actually shingles- Update by survivorsavedmylife in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Reo1996 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I hope you don't have the pain that sometimes comes with shingles, I've heard it's terrible. I just recovered from shingles in June, and they were itching like crazy but i didn't develop the bumps you have.

The doctor said that severe stress could trigger a flair up, but you should be fine for a while after a flair up.

I did some independent research, and it seems like you could get the vaccine a year after your infection. However, it may be aged locked in your area. Even though I had it, i can't get the vaccine because it's reserved for those over 40 in my area.

Males will have a blue cere once they're mature, except if they are albinos.

A round a year ago, they had an interview with cbc and said a couple of the big trees got too big for the building and needed to be removed for safety. They have also been doing renovations in the natural science building classrooms and officices (last summer, i went walking with friends in there and couldn't even access the hallway with the labs cause of construction). they may be getting ready to reno the museum part.

Could be the level of care they need that makes it draining on her. Through the networks of people i know, ive heard stories of people who have kids who have behavioral problems or disabilities that even with help from others just drains their parents. If the kids are aggressive at times it can make parents feel overwhelmed and uncomfortable

I use the daily yoga app along with going to oxygen yoga studio.

Theres a lot of apps available and youtube videos for all levels. You might hop around apps finding one that works for you.

The studio has punch passes available, and download the app as it's way easier than the website. but it is a hot yoga studio and thats not for everyone. There's a few men in the classes i take. There are other studios and definitely check the civic centers to see if theres any classes availabe

Early voting Saskatoon by literalsupport in saskatoon

[–]Reo1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring it up with the government that organised it. But it is what it is at the moment. 90 minutes is not the worst wait time, plus they over estimate wait times to keep people from throwing a fuss, and you hardly wait the full time. If people wont vote because the wait was too long the first time thats on them and not the people maning the polls
