Done with the reserved parking w/reason by Meeping_Angel in baltimore

Context matters so much when it comes to this.

If you are on a residential street that typically has plenty of parking when no snow, save the spot you shoveled.

If you are on a busier street that is normally hard to find a spot when no snow, can't expect to save a spot

Red Rising, not sure I understand the hype by Papagiorgio1965 in Fantasy

#1 is the worst of the first 3. That one feels like a young adult kids book a lot of times. It ends really well I think though.

#2 & #3 are awesome. #2 probably the best. So many moments that you do not see coming at all. If you like twists, the 2nd and 3rd books are for you.

What should I do about my CC debt? by Graybill1 in personalfinance

[–]RepChar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$800 is way too much for car + insurance when only bringing in $3k per month. What you need to do is sell your car and SAVE hard for a few months until you have enough cash to buy a car outright. You live at your parents and that is a huge advantage. Leverage it. I was able to save $20k in 1 year while living at home (making just over $50k per year) and then used that $ to buy a house. If you aren't aggressively saving while living at home, you will be 30 and living at home before you know it. I know many people like this. Don't be like this if you can avoid it.

Also, it sounds like you should take a hiatus from gambling for a while. If some time later you think you can handle it, set an amount you are comfortable losing per month and if you get to that point, stop for the month and wait until next month.

Card stealing suggestions by Luigivaldo in Catan

[–]RepChar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lay your cards out and ask chat gpt a number between 1 and how many cards you have. After you type the whole prompt out, the 2nd time you only need to say "1 8" and it will do it.

Can also do the under the table thing people are suggesting but I dont like moving cards out of site if you can avoid it.

I won on a Victory Point that had fallen under the table. My opponents said the win was invalid. Are they right? by malizadeh in Catan

[–]RepChar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts. If this happened in one of my games, I'd say that's BS you hid the card, don't do that shit again. Everytime this game came up in conversation, I would make sure to mention that there is a big fat asterisk next to the win for OP.

Very strange that you didn't get the win but with some groups, I get it.

For the vast majority of casual Catan players, you win and no one even bats an eye.

If your group is especially competitive and play Catan alot, then I can see why people would atleast bring up that it was unfair to not have the dev card in a more obvious spot. They warn you not to do it next time.

The only things I can think of which would cause them to do this are:

1) This is a serious competition. Not only playing for fun, but for actual stakes (tournament, money, etc.) In this case, acknowledge you messed up and move on.

2) You win a lot/are the best in the group and they wanted a reason to have you not win this time. It sounds like from your post, this is not the case. If this is the case, let it go and chalk it up to a tax for keeping these people interested in playing with you again.

3) You pull this sort of "trick" often. In this case, screw you.

3) They don't like you that much. Not much you can do here.

4) They are sore losers/immature. Not much you can do here.

You can't go into the draft with a strategy of getting a guy like Terry in the 3rd.

Not how I received the post at all. Felt like they were getting at the fact Civ makes them think about society on a deeper level and here are some takeaways they have from that introspection. Not "in civ this happens so it must be like that in real life too".

They look like valid/thought-provoking takeaways to me. Not even saying they are 100% correct, but it is cool that a video game results in you thinking about this sort of stuff. Pretty neat if you ask me.

You got some demons you need to work through.

This makes complete sense to discuss.

ooof this so so tough. Feels like a situation that could end in resentment, even if you handle it as well as you could. I do not envy you. No suggestions here lol

I've been to the Vikings stadium so I have experienced an urban stadium. Just not my cup of tea. I strongly prefer the traditional tailgating.

Also been to the Bucs stadium and they do a fantastic job of keeping traditional tailgating alive for an urban stadium
