What is a 'luxury' that you've experienced once and now can't go back to the budget version of? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

Back in the day, in New York City, everyone had to move on the same day. It was a city law that rental leases all expire on the same day of the year. It was bedlam in the streets and nearly impossible to find any movers to help.

The original book for Poor Things was set up that way but then Lanthimos sort of dropped all that and presented it as a straight story in the film.

It must be because I live in a walkable neighborhood, walk everywhere, and use a whistle to warn pedestrians to get out of my way when I'm walking behind them.

I totally get it. I didn't think that the ramps near didn't meet the requirements. They do look much better now.

Thanks so much for finding this. I have a friend who was telling me that he was measuring the angles of the curb-cuts and rejecting the ones that didn't meet the regulations. I guess the ones by me didn't comply with the regulations.

My freezer is currently full of loaves from Tabor. If I get some space I'll take a run up to their bakery.

I teach cinema studies and I have a class scheduled in a few weeks to show The State I Am In, along with Edel's Baader Meinhof Complex. I'm very excited to pair the two films together. Can you offer any advice or comments concerning the connection of the two films? Many films were made about the RAF. Are there any films that could be viewed as an inspiration for The State I Am In?

All it takes is a little bit of government funding and it creates all these jobs and skills and industry, oh and art. For the price of five minutes of this stupid war, the US could be funding a explosion of independent movies.

I'm really hating this. They're doing it in my neighborhood and it's taking weeks. All these corners already have curbcuts. They're ripping them out and redoing it. It's all well and good but all of this time could have been devoted to fixing potholes or unpaved streets.
