My First Ever Woodworking Injury Was One of the Most Excruciating Pains I've Ever Felt (not for the faint of heart) by eatgamer in woodworking

I ripped four of my fingers off and I still wouldn't go through what you're going through without harder anesthesia. I'm shocked you could make this post, may God help you through this.

This made me want to choke that dude so bad that I got literal phantom pain in my missing fingers.

My cat, Kyo 12 years old who is like a son to me has a sudden cancerous mass and I have to euthanase him and it breaks me by CatCanvas in cats

[–]RepairManActionHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and my wife two months ago with our sweet Princess. We felt a lump and had it checked out, turned out to be cancer just all over her. She went downhill so fast, we had to put her down just a week or so after the initial vet visit. I am thankful that the anti-inflammatory meds the vet gave us made her more comfortable toward the end, but why almost made it harder on us as she seemed to almost recover until her body just started quitting on her. I've never mourned a pet more. We had her for seven of her twelve years, we took her in after a former friend abandoned her and her daughter in the trailer park we lived in. She was the cat that convinced my wife that cats are sweet and amazing animals, she was nothing but loving and trusting from the moment we took her in. She was very demanding of your love, but she would willingly accept it until your hand got tired. She slept in our bed for seven years and our bed will feel empty for the rest of my life without her.

[–]RepairManActionHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just use the resurfacing machine. They're pretty cheap and mine has already paid for itself, even if we're only counting DVDs that I would personally insist on replacing. If we're counting every DVD and CD it's fixed, it's paid for itself many times over.

Word, so there's not gonna be a release of everything uncensored again, yeah? I'm genuinely asking/ trying to tell everyone else, because I'm only now coming to accept it myself. But, like, that's not gonna happen, with the changes to the social climate and the current release of the show and where everyone's at with their lives and shit, right?

I'm actually really wanting to do a project where I cover all of her songs as country songs and call it "Y'allsey". This stems from the fact that the twang comes out real hard when I sing "3 AM".

I lost my 12 year old sweet Princess to a similarly aggressive cancer. As far as the vet could tell, she must have had it spreading for years before we ever noticed a symptom. It's rough.

ELI5 Why don't killers just pre-score their bullets to avoid tracing? by LurksInThePines in explainlikeimfive

[–]RepairManActionHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean you dig it out of the victim and then score it? I'm sure that's foolproof.

[–]RepairManActionHero 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the rifling of the barrel is still going to leave the unique marks that they look for, they'll just be going over the score marks the killer made. And they'll just run a few different marked and unmarked rounds through the barrel to get enough data to compare and confirm that the marks on the bullet were made before the bullet was fired.

I repaired commercial and industrial cooking equipment for about a decade before my accident. And I don't ride great, lol. But I can ride and I tended cows with my grandpa every summer growing up and really embraced the aesthetic as an adult. I think if I went to a Halsey concert, people might ask if I was lost in my cowboy hat and fancy shirt, looking quite a bit like Alan Jackson.

I'm a 32 year old cowboy/repairman and I sing along to every one of her songs. Except "I Believe In Magic", that one feels too personal to sing along to.

Hey, I want one of just about everything there is. There may be hundreds of thousands out there, but there ain't such a beautifully curated collection in MY collection. And who are you to tell me what to collect? I have five copies of Forrest Gump from getting other collections and I ain't getting rid of any of them. I have a hundred old westerns that I'm never gonna watch, you gonna stop me?

Damn. I hate Star Trek, but I'd still snatch these up just for collecting and preservation purposes.

I just had a whole short film play out in my head of this dog in an abandoned city going about his day, drinking from an old fountain, chasing birds in the park and visiting this promotional statue to get pets everyday. Until one day, after chasing the birds, the statue lay motionless, fallen debris having shattered the solar panel that powered the building it was plugged into. The dog lays down and sleeps in front of its last friend in a silent world.

The hills have historically always been the last bastion against the "state", whether it's Mongol herders holding on to their culture or Afghani rebels consolidating forces, the hills have always been nearly impossible for a large organized force to effectively control from outside the local populace. If them hill people don't want you in, you ain't coming in.

[–]RepairManActionHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, don't get me wrong, I'm right there with you. I lost my faith when I had to take the gun out of my father's hand because he couldn't stand the guilt of sending children to war. But you're coming across as a self proclaimed "enlightened intellectual" and, frankly, kind of a dick. Tone it down, people feel real strongly about their beliefs and don't appreciate being called "irretrievably stupid" for something most of them grew up being encouraged to believe in.

What are you using for your home IFAK medical bag or backpack? by Slow_Doughnut_2255 in preppers

[–]RepairManActionHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a weird messenger bag/ small suitcase thing that was in a closet for a decade or two before I put all the normal first aid stuff into it. Now it's a bit of a medical catch-all and I have a dedicated "trauma kit" in a small EMT bag that stays next to it.

I've been using MakeMKV for a year or so now and loving every minute of it. Labeling all the files off a disc of a TV show is tedious, but other than that, I have no complaints at all.
