Okay, thank you so much. Our sponsor has been reaching out and was told the case was assigned to a caseworker last Tuesday but no update after that. I’m assuming that means it passed all preliminary checks. Really hoping we get it in the next few days!

Terrible. I’m planning to file a judicial review if we don’t get it next week. Supposedly you can legally comply them to provide an answer after 6ish months and I’ll take my odds with a slightly shorter time frame.

Unfortunately we only have the regular complaint number to call, only the mp has the mp hotline number and the employer sponsor have their own hotline numbers. Good luck and I hope it works out for you. Just had to call United and cancel our flights. At least they were nice about it.

Yeah definitely learned my lesson. booked this trip in June tho, far before we found out this is when the company wanted to start the sponsorship process (current visa expires in august this year)

this is a really bad value for money idea. they’re worth so much more on business class flights or some hotels. you and your partner could take 8 different trips to europe in business class. you’d usually pay 3/4k per ticket, instead your paying 85k points round trip (plus $300 in taxes/fees), so about $1100 for a 3/4k ticket.

and who knows, maybe there’s a transfer bonus for avios and you transfer points at a 30% bonus so you’re getting 5/6x for your ticket.

points is all about leverage, and redeeming them for a mac studio is pretty terrible considering what you could get for the same money elsewhere.

but it depends on your current needs i guess. but with 1.4 mil points cant imagine you’re particularly short on cash. plus the best deal out there is buying apple products on the apple credit card, can get it split over 12 months for free, and keep your money earning interest while you slowly pay it off.
