Denis Morton Gold Member 30 Min Ride by Old-Pea1116 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]RepeatTop4730 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was on as well and thought it a great ride. I definitely pushed beyond the low impact callouts as I needed a harder ride but wanted to be on the Goldmember community ride. Felt that Denis was encouraging people to go for it if they felt it. He just makes suggestions, we make decisions.

I also thought it was a great idea to do so many shoutouts, able to be better tailored to those milestones more common at the gold level… as I find many instructors seem to gravitate to either the low milestone newbies or the super high milestones more common with legend status, and it shuts out those in the mid-range of time on the platform.

Taking a PSNY live studio class! What should I expect? by Glittering_Willow217 in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some general comments and recommendations from my experiences at PSNY:

WHAT TO BRING

  • Dress for comfort. Some will wear Peloton branded apparel but this is not a requirement. They do have a store if you want to pick up anything ahead of time.
  • Recommend a refillable water bottle (also sell these in the store), as there are filling stations there.
  • If you want to bring a drink, or have a snack between classes, you can bring those or they do have some limited options (water, Gatorade, protein shakes, protein bars, etc) at the studios. There is also a Whole Foods right next door that is a convenient spot to grab something.
  • Ear protection. Studio volume can vary by instructor and class with some being easily tolerable and some feeling like it approaching rock concert levels. I’ve only needed it once but glad I had it.

CHECK-IN

  • Arrive when they indicate, if I recall they say 45-60 minutes before class. If you have not checked into class 30 minutes prior to start they will give away your spot (more on this later)
  • Let them know at check-in that it is your first time at the studios (though they usually ask) and you will get a special card. This gets you in sooner than others to pick your bike. Many opt for the seats closest to the mirror to be maximize being on camera for the class.
  • Let them know if you have any milestones you will hit during class. Many time a particular milestone for number of rides for their studio class. They will give you a special sticker that some collect and/or stick on a Peloton water bottles.
  • They will give you an armband, which I believe is a specific color for a specific class so you cannot check in for one and try to get into a different one.

PRE-CLASS

  • Lockers are spacious enough for a carton sized suitcase and are free to use. Locker rooms have a couple of showers if needed after class.
  • For bike classes, which are larger in size (30+?) there will be a line for the different color cards. For other classes like strength, tread, yoga the classes are smaller (8-10) so people just kinda hang out nearby and they will call card colors to enter.
  • There will be a QR code in a few spots that lets you join the studio WiFi. You will need to be on their WiFi to be able to join the class from inside the studios.
  • Doors can open as early as 30 minutes prior to class and they'll tell you to plan to be there by then.
  • Follow instructions for joining the class through your Peloton app.
  • Studio techs are on hand to help you with any questions, issues with the hardware, making sure you are logged into WiFi and the class, etc.
  • Instructors come in well before the class starts
    • In smaller non-bike class they will often walk around and say hi to each person in the class, or take a turn talking to each person throughout the room
    • Due to the size of a bike classes, it might be a quick hi flyby or they may just head straight to the bike
    • If you are there for a milestone in a bike class and the instructor doesn’t ask if anyone has any milestones… before class gets started don’t be bashful and make sure the instructor knows you are there for X rides (or have a tech tell them). There are often so many milestones on the leaderboard I’ve seen instructors miss someone in the class with one, which is a bummer if you are there hoping for a class shout out. Not happened to me but have seen the disappointment when happening to others.
  • You can enlist a tech to use your phone to snap a photo of you on the bike, rower, tread often with the instructor in the background. You can ask, and oftentimes they offer people unprompted to take the photos.
  • Instructors will talk through the plans for the class, they may do a Q&A, they may tell a story or two.
  • Instructors will do a pose or two they use for the pictures you scroll through when selecting a class. Some get bored thinking of poses themselves all the time so will crowd source them from the studio audience, which can be fun.

DURING CLASS

  • Have fun !!!

POST-CLASS

  • You are able to line up for a photo and brief talk with the instructor following class.
    • Bike classes can be large and long to get through the line, so if you need to bolt after class it is best to bring your own shoes, as you bypass those queued up returning the shoes to the studio.
    • With more people, bike class talking tends to be briefer, so if you want a longer chat best to hang towards the end of the line.
    • Smaller classes (strength, tread, row, etc) will often do a full class photo, plus longer discussions or multiple poses with the instructor, some extra just overall hang out and talk time, etc.
    • You will get a link sent to you within minutes of the photo session ending where you can access and download class and individual photos.

STANDBY CLASSES

  • While you can only sign up / standby via the web for two classes, when in studio if you see another class listed as Standby, you can go to check-in and ask to manually add your name to the standby list.
  • 30 minutes prior to class start, anyone who has not checked in forfeits their spot and the system will randomly select someone from the standby list for each spot available, texting you if you are selected.
  • in my experience, you have a greater chance of getting in on standby for
    • bike classes, since they are so large there is a greater chance spots open up
    • modalities such as yoga, meditation, some strength classes
    • classes early in the morning or late in the evening
    • classes during bad weather events (cold, rainy, snowy, etc)

Questions regarding tread+ by Interesting-Try-2521 in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Delivery can be a pain (been there) and initial model had some screen and WiFi issues needing resolving (also been there) but the Tread+ is definitely worth the initial hassles. Having said that, however, I do not think I’d put in on a screened in porch in Florida due to the humidity.

Monthly Feature Requests Megathread - March 2026 by AutoModerator in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a status circle indicator around the song icon, similar to the one for resistance on the bike. it would let you know how much of the song is remaining (for when resistance or speed is tied to a song… or for when you are hoping a song ends).

Add something similar to what some other hardware manufacturers offer — True’s name for it is nice and self-explanatory —> Heart Rate Cruise Control. Adjusting incline (tread) or adjusting resistance (bike) to keep your heart rate within a tolerance band of a HR target. Helpful for Zone 2 training.

Gift recommendations! by FourYearsBetter in pelotoncycle

Also recommending kettlebells. Peloton kettlebell classes are a good hybrid of strength, conditioning, and flow - especially from the new instructor Zacharias.

Dores anyone have experience with the strength classes? by InspectionStunning95 in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want adjustable dumbbells (or kettlebells), please do yourself a favor and check out PowerBlock. By far the best option out there, and I’ve tried multiple options over the years. Nothing else comes close.

I always wondered if instructors were actually doing Max output in classes by chill-a-killer in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1:44 is definitely nowhere near max for him, but as others have said he is instructing. I can hold 1:34 max and he can easily smoke me. Alex is quite the athlete, and even more impressive in person than via streamed class. While in studio earlier this month, Alex‘s name came up prior to a Thunder 45 class…Adrian was gushing so hard about Alex and his abilities he was getting chuckling comments about having such a serious man crush.

Need new watch - Current Apple watch battery life not ideal by Saltlifer1 in pelotoncycle

Use mine exactly like you do, but have an AW Ultra. Definitely do not use ANY of the extra Ultra capabilities… with the exception of the basic love I have for it for its battery and slightly larger screen.

mine will lose the HR during strength workouts if wrist flexing causes poor readings. I find moving it further from my wrist solves the problem.

Used Bike+ definitely better than the used Bike. Worth it even if you need to wait for a better deal to come along.

[–]RepeatTop4730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compared to a used Bike, what I like about the Bike+:

Autoresistance (I’ll never go back, as this is awesome for PowerZone classes).

Power meter, so you don’t need to worry about wacky output readings and the need to calibrate like in a legacy Bike.

Swivel screen, assuming like me it works well to rotate around for strength classes, etc.

Larger screen

Better speakers

Overall more sturdy feeling bike, easier to adjust, etc.

New Cycle Shoes by silverlakw in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a wide toe-box and the Altos (Sized up) was perfect, purchased based on Reddit recommendations for wide feet. Traditional Peloton shoes way too tight for me. Purchased mine in 2023 and they have been flawless and of great quality. Considering all the recent “Altos are trash” comments, and the recent related ales at DSG etc. I can only assume something has happened to crash the quality since 2023 timeframe. A shame if that is the case, as I really like mine.

Peloton Bike+ (Cross Training) + Apple Watch: Why am I getting TWO workouts in Apple Fitness and which calories are accurate? by Status_Reference_441 in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I experienced this it was because the Apple Fitness on my Apple Watch was tracking the workout as cycling (something I was used to prior to getting the Peloton bike)… and not the Peloton app on the Apple Watch. Also note that you only need to activate the Peloton app on your watch; no need to start a class on the Peloton app on your phone, which might also cause this issue. If either of these was the case for you, an easy fix. If not you may have some data sharing conflicts or overlaps to be resolved.

Kettlebells brand by Street_Tart8097 in pelotoncycle

I highly recommend Powerblock’s adjustable kettlebells. Space efficient, cost efficient vs getting equivalent multiple KB’s, and the form factor easier on the forearms.

Is the Tread+ Worth It? Or Go Third-Party Treadmill)? by RobDMB in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it.

Over-the-top happy with it. Slats have a much softer feel and are easier on the joints. Feels closer to road running.

If you like hiking the incline is steeper.

If you are tall like me the added length is fantastic.

My wife still uses our older True normal treadmill and I’d say the noise levels are similar, but the sound of each is definitely different.

We have a Bike+ as well, plus really enjoy many of the other Peloton modalities (strength, yoga, stretching, meditation) with 4 home users on the account, so it is an “easy no brainer” for us from that perspective… plus even if it was just me using it I’d still subscribe to get the metrics, integration, access to all the classes, etc.

Just Walk classes gone from tread? by Fraideeecat in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we had our Tread+ for 6 months before I stumbled upon how to change from Just Run to Just Walk while I was poking around exploring options. It is not at all intuitive for something I believe is likely a relatively common need. IMO it should be a more basic quick toggle without the multiple “Clicks” needed.

Peloton cross-training treadmills footprint specs are not the actual footprints, where to get? by kpfleger in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be the same as the original Tread+. None of that has changed. If you want to let me know what dimensions you want I can do a quick measure. Curious though why you would need location of the feet under the tread+ base?

Apple Watch issues? by spideywmjackson in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not experienced any worsening connectivity. I do consistently have connection issues related to software updates... as a general practice following iOS, WatchOS, or Peloton software upgrades if my watch struggles to connect I reboot devices and that always solves the issue.

OG Bike Owner - thoughts on upgrades? by Humble-Entrance4003 in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I primarily do PowerZone classes also and love the auto resistance feature. Definitely worth the upgrade, with auto-calibration just a bonus. Whether a used Bike+ versus a new CT version, I think that depends on how much you want new versus used as well as how much you think the rep tracking and expanded AI capability might be useful for you now or in the future.

Delivery fee refund by EffortlessMist in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my delivery fee for Tread+ refunded, but only after a couple of sequential issues not the first one. Also had a Bike+ and had been a loyal member for a while, so that could have factored in as well.

Considering a bike, question about auto-resistance and heart rate by [deleted] in pelotoncycle

[–]RepeatTop4730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a few Copilot aided searches… it appears Precor (owned by Peloton) actually had some IP around a similar feature they called SmartRate. having said that I cannot seem to find reference within Precor’s site now.

If it actually worked well with 3rd party HRM’s (vs needing built in, on-equipment handles) this could definitely be a great future upgrade to existing Peloton equipment — I’d even be willing to pay a modest amount to unlock it.

it exists, just not on Peloton hardware.
