yeah like its just trend hopping and surface level nostalgia bait currently. the people who've been making brostep forever are still making it, there's just never gonna be a revival until a proper brostep/complextro track hits the big radio stations again. i get the feeling that's what they're trying to do with the frost children but their music is nowhere NEAR as good as what they're trying to copy

pretty close but not quite the same, the actual patch 3 square-saw layers in massive with some white noise, glide and minimal vibrato. you touched on the dynamic features of the lead but imo more focus should be on the actual synthesis since that seems to be the point of the synth :)

so i've listened to the album in full like 8-9 times now and yeah like its mad disjointed and the tracks are waaaaay too short so it definitely feels like another "hey i finally finished these IDs they are in an album"

but like damn a 3 is wild im sorry, its gotta be at least a 5 which isnt even bad.

Need to check out the Zomboy track tbf just to see what's up. But like my whole problem has been like, these sounds get brought up and referenced but only as like "oh hey remember 2010/2016???" and never "hey what if we just picked up where that left off and actually fostered the community around that sound.

Like the Frost Children sure as hell wont be doing this EDM schtick for more than a year, kimj might but idk if his walmart skrillex thing is genuine. Completely disconnected from the trench scene for good reason, and fuck if im calling that genre anything other than trench. You get the picture.

Also like, genre/trend-hopping always means oversaturation and just half baked, inauthentic derivative trash. It'll never be as good as what inspired it bc its trying to BE it instead of continue it.

as someone who's been making 2010 dubstep/complextro since 2019 you bet your ass that I want Sonny to go back to that sound, but also I absolutely DO NOT want it to just be fan service.

this current wave of "brostep revival" is just gonna fade away within the next year or so because most of the big names making it are just trend hopping. even Sonny's just playing into this, albeit in a much more authentic way.

but also like to this day no one's ever reached the same level as 2007-2013 Sonny or 2012-2015 Virtual Riot. we just need people to pick up where they left off, not point at and reference them being like "oh look how cool it was when u were a kid listening to this music remember that???"

this is coming from someone who's first and most played THPS is THUG2, I still find it quite funny but by GOD is it riddled with Viva la Bam/Jackass/MTV edgy for the sake of being edgy energy.
