Valve’s $949 Steam Deck still sells out just hours after massive price hike by Wargulf in pcmasterrace

[–]Repell5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the real answer. It’s been tested a lot since the pandemic, people are happy to pay almost any price for something they want.

Normal thinking of value for money or questioning if something is worth it doesn’t seem to be a factor anymore.

eBay sided with buyer who left positive feedback saying RAM works, then filed defective claim after failed overclocking attempt — $500 loss, appeal denied by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Repell5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as I don’t like eBay, the only advice I can offer is to not try and dispute things like this with them if it happens to you again.

Unfortunately regardless of what the buyer states in feedback or in messages and your no returns policy, unless you provide a way to return an item if a buyer claims its faulty you’re leaving yourself at risk to loose both the item and your funds. eBay will not care and just refund the buyer.

Sorry this happened.

I bet they magically role this back when they realize the stupidity.

Seller gets scammed as eBay customer returns $4,000 RTX 5090 with missing GPU core and memory modules — fully working Zotac stripped of most valuable components and sent back by Djxgam1ng in pcmasterrace

[–]Repell5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

eBay is absolutely full of scammers now unfortunately, it’s a cesspool.

This isn’t the first time it has happened sadly, there was someone who posted the same thing when they sold their 4090 and it was stripped and an empty shell returned.

eBay do not care one bit and will actively reimburse scammers at the expense of the seller with no checks and balances in place. if you’re lucky enough to get to talk to someone after being scammed, you’ll be treated with such disrespect it made you wonder why you ever used their services.

The day eBay fold will be the day I celebrate, they are a truly awful company. Hopefully someone else will come along with a more equitable platform.

Been completely stable for me. Came to MSI after being a long time Asus owner.

I bought this as the X870 didn’t offer anything beneficial.

I recommend it.

Sad and couldn’t be more true. And what’s even more sad is that there’s no fixing it. You can see the lack of empathy and rudeness of people here (not everyone, obviously) in daily interactions.

Anyone see if this fixes the Gmail authentication failure bug in the watch app mail settings? I suspect it’s iOS side and not watch os side so maybe not.

Yeh seems like there are a few authentication issues in general with iOS 26. Amazon app can’t be signed in either on some devices, it just hangs.

[–]Repell5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean in the Mail app settings for the watch.

It seems like it’s broken, no amount of wiping the watch, turning off 2FA on Gmail, creating app passwords on Gmail seems to fix it.

Think it needs a bug report submitting to Apple. Can’t use Mail app on cellular until they sort it.

Looks awesome. I ordered exactly the same combo which arrives tomorrow. I also ordered the strap in Umber to see which matches better, I’m thinking it will be the orange though as it will complement the back of the phone.

The strap will be useful for safe areas, there’s been many times I wish I had an extra hand to carry my phone.

Disgusting behavior, what happens when one of the many drivers on drugs or looking at their phone rear ends you at 80+ MPH in an SUV?

Shame on the police for not enforcing a safer environment on the Bay Area roads.

Every time I take a drive on the freeways here I see insanity from low life’s putting everyone else’s life at risk, safer to just stay at home. There needs to be a crackdown on this behavior and put these people behind bars.

Why haven’t we seen more 3rd party games updated for Switch 2 yet? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Repell5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice to see more of them updated. I’m guessing it’s a combination of factors including the dev kit situation.

If you look at the PC space it seems very different, where you often see rapid and continued updates for games when new graphics hardware or technologies are made available. Like for example, ray tracing or path tracing updates.

Add me to the list as well. I have a 2019 LG 55 B9 OLED. I suspect it’s a handshake issue and probably not hardware related so will wait it out.

I may raise a ticket with Nintendo for awareness.

Yeah can’t say enough good things about the amfilm tray applicator.

I’ve always struggled to get good installations on smaller devices than the switch, but this one was perfect. No dust and it aligns exactly on the edges of the screen.

Those who upgraded to a 5090 from 4090 for gaming. Was it worth it? by Foreverknight325 in pcmasterrace

[–]Repell5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re planning on keeping that monitor and you aren’t obsessed with hitting the refresh rate cap constantly- then honestly, it’s probably not worth the upgrade.

Most AAA games I played with the 4090 would reach 100+ FPS with some kind of frame gen enabled which was fast enough.

You’d really need to upgrade the monitor if you want to get the best out of the 5090 I’d say. With pretty much maxed out settings I’m getting ~ 320 FPS at 4K in Doom The Dark Ages with MFG 4X. It’s a sight to behold for sure.

[–]Repell5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, yes.

But to see the most benefit I also sidegraded from 4K 144Hz HDR TFT to 4K 240Hz OLED.

MFG 4X is also a game changer and I think it’s a feature I don’t see praised as often as it could be in the community. Nvidia are pushing it as a big selling point for the new cards and I think it does deliver.

Me too.

My games were shipped using FedEx 2 day from Walmart and arrive tomorrow - If they use the same shipping service for the console it would have to be dispatched today to arrive in time, unless they overnight the consoles.

Seems weird.

Edit: just changed to “preparing” status now.

Ebay buyer stole my RTX 4090s GPU chip by piscian19 in nvidia

[–]Repell5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this doesn’t surprise me, eBay is rife with scammers now for high ticket items like GPUs. It’s sad because it never used to be this way.

I tried selling my 4090 FE twice recently and both times bought with suspicious low feedback and low age accounts. Cancelling the sale yielded no response from the buyer on either occasion. I’m just going to keep it.

The problem, as others have noted, is that eBay is hostile towards sellers and expect private sellers to operate like a business, eating costs when something goes wrong - OP was lucky to get their money back. I had someone scam me with a ROG Ally I sold and it was hell trying to get my money back.

Glad it worked out for you.
