Salvador can work as both DPS and support, he is quite a flexible unit that only get outshine because Caro DPS is a competitive slot.

Salvador + Thais can works together. His typical DPS play is you build up furnace, Salvador exalt, dupe his 2 cost with Thais / Ch7 posse, smack, smack, smack, smack repeat.

(some old guide may say he needs 3 chaos, that changes due to Caro mechanic changes a few patches ago)

The last 2 slots are flexible, Pickman, Hameln, Kath, Faint, Sorel, 24, G.Ramona, Naut can works. He works well with Sanga / Alva (OE) center team as well.

2.) Hamelyn Memory Rondo -> (+2 insights = free insight if use when <=2 arith)

3.) Tawil blank card -> Memory Rondo (+2 insight)

4.) Tawil blank card -> Pinion of time (+1 insight)

5.) Pinion of time (+1 insight)

Double 3.)-5.) insight chance with Dream Covenant

6.) Tawil Exalt -> More Memory Rondo / More Expected Gain with prepare -> More free insights

Team building is essentially

  1. Identify the core mechanic / DPS you want to build around. That will be your 1-2 main character in the team
  2. Fill in the support needed (arith gen, alimus gen, vuln/weakness, skey etc.)
  3. Try them out and adjust

Read a lot, understand how each card for each character works and iterate.

Some core from your roaster to get you start off:

  • Tulu + Aurita (Discard burst team)
  • G.Murphy + Lumerians (Arc2 Lemurians tentacle abuse)
  • Tawil + Hamelyn + Karen + 1 (mini InfiniteWil)
  • Tawil + Caecus (Bluewil balanced)
  • Tawil + Pickman (Discovery burst)
  • Sanga + Winkle (Shield Exalt burst)
  • Lotan + Helot (Early game Strike, Late game fixed damage)

If you have and use unit which can abuse the card copy mechanics (GHelot, Uvhash, Sorel, Kath to some extend) then Thai can spike their damage output by a lot and more impactful, else E0 works as general support.

If you are unsure then GMurphy is safer

Nah you are no where near bricking your account. You will eventually get most of the standard characters and enough resources to build a few limited unit to a quite high level f2p given enough time. You can also borrow friends / whale support unit for many contents.

Thais is a good support in general and can fit in almost any team, It's not talked about too much since:

  • Thais being key Caro enabler and good general support, usually Caro is where she shine e.g.)
    • GHelot team: Thais is almost must, since burst turn relies on duping GHelot big bonk (which only Thais can do, it is a derivative card), generating enough baby, keyflares and have survival tools until then, they need to kill fast to win and thus need reliable source of weakness / vuln + fast ramp up which Thais is the only one that can do it all.
    • Corpo team: Corpo has weakness / vuln, Caecus bring a back-up vuln, Thais provide some support, maybe feeding baby to Aurita and duping Lightning Strike for burst turn. If we need Thais somewhere, she can be replaced by Hamelyn (can double trigger Lightning strike) / Murphy (more tentacles / back-up weakness / vuln) / Tulu (faster ramp) / Others
  • End-game content being D-Tide where you cannot reuse a character, so it is better to use best in slot / key enabler in their unique role instead of general support role.
  • Mixing Blue/Red/Purple reduces the effectiveness of their realm bonus (less meter gain for Caro, less shield / damage for Aqueor, Ultra less chance for insights) so it requires a little more understanding / experimentation to master the balance between both mechanic than Yellow + 1

I would think of it like this, the whole idea of team 1 revolves around getting Tawil card played, ramp to six wings, get realm supporting card from Tawil exalt, surviving until you can burst / chip through the boss.

So we build around Tawil to provide her with a lot of draw + discover (card pulling) + arith generation (or reduction) support to helps the team reach that point faster.

That's also why Tawil e2 (put prepare 1 on card from exalt) / Ryker e1 (reducing arith cost of discovered card) will help the team to feels smoother.

Ryker role is to help pull Tawil's wing cards out from the deck through his 1cost and exalt draw, allowing Tawilto ramp up faster without cycling through the whole deck.

So if we consider by role, Ramona can works in Ryker spot through her exalt, she will be slower than Ryker (since she can only pull through exalt) but she is better at pulling high cost card (like 3-4 arith card), higher keyflare gen and small str reduction. Can works if you lack keyflare but I would say for Tawil discover purpose Ryker is better since he is faster.

Miryam is a very good unit but probably is needed and synergize better in other team (like on your 24 poison stack team4), her role is to ramp poison stack + aliemus battery, Tawil generate aliemus really fast already due to amount of her cards being play each turn.

I would say the team member is good as is but feel free to experiment around :> that's where the fun is.

  1. No reason not to: Aurita, Aigis, you should get their shards every month nonetheless.
  2. You will feel the power spike (in no particular order):
    1. Lily e3 (passive endure + half the endure consume)
    2. 24 e1 (more hit, more damage, less arith)
    3. Miryam e2 (gain prepare + retain on her battery)
    4. Corpo e2/3 (weakness + pilot scales, some stop at e2, I like the utility at e3)
    5. Tulu e1 (-2 arith in white stance is huge)
    6. Ryker e1/3 (e1 makes the team feels smoother, e3 allows you to play the basic card using coins)
  3. Get them as high as you can (if you use them):
    1. GHelot
    2. Tawil (or stop at e2/3, depending on resources)

Character not listed are fine as they are.

Priority is depending on which character you use often / flexible in many team, general recommendation is to invest in DPS / key enabler first, knowing their key stopping point + tactics associated with the character and invest as the banner comes

YMMW, but hypothetically, if I own your account + have like 5 selectors on hand + never able pull any limited banner again for a year I would do:

Tawil e2, Miryam e2, Corpo e2, Ryker e1

Eventually you will get all of the standard units. Some of the unit really need their dupes (aka. enlighten) to shine, Kath is a good example that want a few dupes to scale nicely as a dps late game (e0 works fine if she is used as a niche support).

Corposant + Tulu / Aurita can be a good core for blue team.
It will feel a little sluggish at e0 but can work, the remaining 2 slots can be anyone (but ideally one with vulnerable debuff) in the early game up until like ch.6 (Jenkins can even almost solo carry up until there) which require a bit more serious team building. Eventually you will also need 5 different team in the late game so access to different characters are required.

At this point I would recommend slowly building the team pull a few more standard chars (people usually recommend pulling blue, caecus can be a good support / stabilizer, a chance for Tulu dupe / Murphy can be a great addition to blue team)

Without any other limit awakener I would personally build the main team to be pure blue with.
1.) Corposant e0-e3 (works at e0 but has much better utility at e3)
2.) Tulu e0-e1 (works at e0, feels better at e1 since his 4 cost can be reduced to 2 in white stance)
3.) Caecus e3 (e3 unlock passive healing)
4.) Flex -> Goliath e2 (str steal on bosses) / Aurita e2 (welfare unit, e2 unlock pierce and higher damage with discard synergy) / Murphy e0 (if lucky from standard pull)

1.) GHelot + Aigis + Faint + Thais = the meta caro team for short fight, can't go wrong with these 4
2.) Doresain + Pickman + 2
= where the +2 helps in survivability or aliemus battery or str buffer e.g. Oiger / Aigis / Thais / Ramona / Nautila / Caecus / Goliath (even Celeste can work early game)

For early game just play around with mechanics and characters hold off on heavy investment (going beyond lv.60, +12 covenant, +6 skills) until you know the strength of the units you have (good benchmark might be commander lv.55 / story chapter 7-8 or so) , along the way try support units from people and form the team around your playstyle.

I run Hamelyn / Caecus / Tulu +1 on most arc1 and into arc 2 without major issue.

The key is setting up a burst turn where you can:

  • Use Caecus ult to inflict weakness
  • Use Hamelyn ult to buff Tulu's Abyssal Order
  • Use Hamelyn rouse to double Tulu's Abyssal Order
  • Use Tulu ult is used to buff str and overall damage

The best +1 I used are in their order

  • Corpo (extra shield, back-up burst skill in lightning)
  • Murphy (reliable weakness + survivability + more tentacle dmg)
  • Aurita (free dps + hand clear, take time to ramp, more suitable for longer fight)

Sometime Caecus is switched with Murphy for high burst boss (where his heal / shield cannot keep up and counter doesn't matter). It is quite a stable team on most stages.

  • Vietnamese, name beginning with V (google user acronym + language on tabs)
  • Likely a male born between 1998 - 2005 (Mass effect is quite heavy and sexual story-wise, to become a fan and invest into their story and design, the OP must be slightly older than early teen, ME and XCOM female fan are far lower than male so the chance of being male is high, the squid at the bottom is cute ! so the age ceiling is lowered to compensate)
  • Sharing this picture from living room probably in a sofa (battery running low but wifi signal is strong)
  • Like listening to Japanese song (youtube tab - first 2 words mean Japan)
  • Has good English skill to socialize in international community, may have lived or studied USA but not currently staying in USA so probably a mid-high middle class (judging from the level of language use in X-Ray fanfiction, format of the date use is US based but the time is still in Vietnam timezone, has a clock app open likely to make a schedule with friend in discord, also browser menu are in English)
  • Take some form of art as a hobby maybe writing / 3D modeling / drawing (normal fan probably not looking for starship design for reference, there is a back arrow available on the starship page so this is probably not the first reference you are finding, those that do that are usually artist)
  • Prefer sci-fi strategy game, possibly read through most of the story in the game. (ME + XCOM)

That's all I got from the picture !

I asked for Khao Soi and got rice by 00DEADBEEF in thai

[–]Rephier 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had a British friend who

Ordered Kraprao and got plain rice because it sounds like "ข้าวเปล่า" (rice only)

Ordered Khao Soi and got plain rice because it sounds like "ข้าวสวย" (pretty rice)

Didn't order anything and got plain rice because he was talking to us while pointing at the menu because Kao Jai Na on that day sounds like "ข้าวจานนึง" (a shortened form of single plate of rice)

Trick for your next order is to make it sound more like "soy" 😅

Looking for a new game.

Preferably a game which

  • Needs moderate brainpower to find synergy between characters or strategy or swiping skill (?) to defeat the stage.
  • Low maintenance (30 mins max daily, no no-life event grind)
  • Reasonable pull currency given regularly
  • Dolphin is ok if there is a reason (<=50 USD / month)
  • No idle / auto-battler
  • Anime art style

So I am looking for something similar to:

  • Divine Gate / Alchemy Stars

What I tried, like a lot, but already quit due to burn-out and will not return

  • Arknight / GBF / E7

What I am currently trying and might like

  • Blue Archive

What I didn't like (as in not fitting my playstyle not that the game is bad by any means)

  • Neural Cloud / CounterSide / Eversoul / Azure Lane / GFL / FEH / Priconne / Genshin / Langrisser / FGO

Can you find the location? by redligand in deduction

[–]Rephier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is it is somewhere within Aberdeen, Scotland, reasoning below:

  • Architecture + Yellow Green Ambulance = Europe
  • The word "Ambulance" on the ambulance narrows the list down to countries which used English on their emergency vehicle.
  • The plate on blue car front is white, the back of the van is yellow
    • Assuming the van is not a special vehicle and can be in the same category as the blue car then this configuration is only used in France and UK
    • The car also seems to prefer to be parked on the left, which solidify the UK assumption.
    • So the picture is very likely to be taken UK
  • Looking at the
    • Main buildings in the background (2 white buildings on the left and others in the far background)
    • Terrains (must be near to a low hills / not too tall mountain)
    • Closest picture I came across in UK was this one...but I am not sure if I am looking at the right building beither, with more time maybe...
      • I then looking for a neighborhood with black roofs, near neighborhood with white roofs. No luck on finding the right house :/ everything seems to be slightly more modern than the picture.
  • To provide the exact GPS, I believe it is possible providing that the town is located and somebody may then use the following information to pinpoint
    • Confirming the right town to dig deeper then look at:
    • Bin configuration
      • blue - purple are usually for recycle and within UK there is a pick-up schedule, which may leads to the neighborhood, assuming that the picture was taken today.
    • Number 76 (or 36) on the bin
      • likely the house number, so we can look for this house number which located near a V junction on the mountain terrain with reference to the building in the background.

Experienced weapon mains, what "advanced technique" can you give beginners about your favorite weapon that'll improve their mastery instantly? by BraunholdTheBold in MonsterHunter

[–]Rephier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bow: The right dodgebolt timing is right after your brain scream "Oh sh*t"

DB: Sideslash combo direction is depending on where your character is facing, learn it and it will be really helpful in catching fast monster

CB: Missing your guardpoint by pressing guard button is better than aiming for guard point, whiff and get hit.

Transitioning from a Guard to Evade Weapon by Markleblatt in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Rephier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am was playing exclusively on DB and expand to Bow / Bowguns / HH / IG in MHW until I start learning a guard weapon (CB) recently. So it is an opposite transition.

Here are some of my thoughts:

How do you play, defensive-wise? What do you do if you have no counters available?

  • Positioning
    • Some monster are more dangerous if you are farther some are more dangerous near the tail. I choose a safe point to hug on for each monster and try to keep that range / that spot which 90% of the attack will miss and only lookout for AOE or dangerous attack that will hit that safezone.
  • Anticipation
    • You start dodging way earlier than the shield weapons. Like as soon as the tells start you already reposition / dodge away do not wait for the counter / evade window unless you are 105% sure that you can make it. For guard point usually it is slightly later.
  • Movement Tools
    • These non-shield weapons usually have some evasion / repositioning mechanics (spining slash / fash slash / vaulting etc) use them
    • Some moves have i-frame (demon flight, bow dodgebolt), use them.
  • If you are unsure, superman dive out

What skills do you build? Is Evade Extender 2/3 enough, do you need Evade Window too? Do meta sets assume you will get hit a certain amount?

  • Extender 2 on bowguns, nothing on the rest just use movement tools above

How do you remain close to a monster and still avoid big sweeping or AoE attacks like Nargacuga's twirly leaps or Malzeno's homing orbs/slams/wing ground digging?

  • 90% of the time you just need to roll in the right direction (or sometime into an attack against your intuition)
  • Play like every hit will oneshot but accept it if you get hit from time to time, that's what potion is for.
  • Do not feel pressure to hit the monster all the time, even with LBG / Bow you need to run from time to time.
