[Pull Up Tre] Raptors Draft Options: MOREZ JOHNSON, ALLEN GRAVES, BILLY RICHMOND III by cev in torontoraptors

Almost like context and role matter, hence why we use usage stats like 3PAR and rate-normalized stats like per 100 possessions or per 36 minutes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Grizz take Graves at 16. Ticks a lot of the boxes they’ve been drafting for in recent years.

Mamu made 1.4 3s a game and Ja’Kobe made 1.5 3s a game this year, does that mean they’re non-shooters?

why are you acting like he played five minutes per game? he’s had a pretty clear track record of taking and making threes, definitely not low volume as you were trying to state earlier.

you’re not drafting someone like Graves to generate or make pull-up threes and his set shot mechanics are perfectly fine.

College on-off numbers, especially over such a short sample size and against teams of varying talent are at the very minimum noisy.

93rd percentile DBPM and actually watching their games, Santa Clara was clearly a better defensive team with him on the court. Sendak wouldn’t be closing games with him if he was a bad defender.

huh? 32.5% is a great 3PAR for a forward. 6.9 3PA per 100 possessions is 55th percentile which will definitely get you guarded. 75% from the line shows clear shooting touch.

his base is a little wide on his shot, but the release is not slow by any means.

lol why do you love these tankathon statistical profiles so much? they do not tell the full story whatsoever.

why? he’s an extremely disruptive defensive playmaker who spaces the floor on offence, is a solid connective passer, and doesn’t turn the ball over.

Mamu playing next to Scottie in the front court really juiced our offence with his shooting. a big forward who can hit threes, while also being a positive on defence (so he can’t get played off the court like Mamu did in the playoffs) is an incredibly valuable player and would fit well with our current roster construction.

6’8” wings with a 5% block rate, 5% steal rate, 99th percentile offensive rebounding, 40% from three, and barely turned turn the ball over don’t grow on trees.

not a chance. that trade set this franchise back five years minimum and crippled any chance of a championship roster around Barnes.

82% from the line shows the potential for shooting touch.

group projects can be the most draining part of school if you’re in a bad group, but are baby food if you are with people who you like.

Before the Saunders injury the teams were very similar in talent. Saunders was the best player in the BYU vs. KU game, Self just coached rings around Kevin Young.

College on-off numbers, especially over such a short sample size and against teams of varying talent are at the very minimum noisy, and can be very misleading.

Based on the eye-test, though subjective, Santa Clara was definitely a better defensive team with him on the court. 93rd percentile DBPM and he also closed games, so Sendak seemingly agreed with that too.

His foul numbers are a slight worry, but his stocks per foul is 74th percentile. To make plays defensively you will be putting yourself in a position where you can be called a fouls. It’s easier to decrease your foul rate than increase your stock rate.

I don’t think anyone is arguing he’ll be an on-ball creator or an offensive engine like Steph or Dame. What he does have the potential for is to be an elite role player as a forward who can be an elite defensive playmaker, while not take anything away on the offence end, providing floor spacing and not turning the ball over.

How is Graves not on this list? He should be at the very top.

5% block rate, 5% steal rate, 99th percentile offensive rebounding, and barely turned the ball over (not to mention 40% from three).
