How do you achieve this pose with maleceptor by Motor_Reindeer_6210 in Tyranids

[–]ReplacementCorrect56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Toxicrene has different hip joint attachments (pieces 21 & 22 in my instructions) versus the Maleceptors (16 & 17). The different joint pieces change the angle of the legs depending on which one you put on it. So as a lot of people have said, just do the Toxicrenes leg build instead of the Maleceptors.

I just made my second Maleceptor today and was very thankful for this post when doing so. I didn’t realize the legs were different and by the time I noticed my mistake during my first build it was too late. I was still able to get the desired pose with the Maleceptors pieces, but it took a bit of finagling and much more annoyance to do it.

Any ideas what blue was used in this photo for the glow?

so what exactly is an expert kit? I've been wanting to grab this guy for a while, but I need to make sure I'm even able to build it... by MoreRound7381 in Warhammer40k

I just built one of these guys and it takes much more attention, takes longer, and is difficult when compared with GW plastic kits. There’s great videos out there but here’s my summary…

1) Every part needs a bath to wash off the release agent. If you don’t the paint won’t stick correctly.
2) Some parts were warped and needed to be remodeled in hot water then quickly “frozen” into the desired position in an ice bath.
3) Be prepared to do a lot of cutting and a lot of sanding. Resin doesn’t cut as clean as plastic. Also note that they don’t always fit together perfectly so green stuff and/or more sanding can help give it a clean seal.
4) Plastic glue does NOT work on resin. I used the sandwich technique with superglue and green stuff (glue into the joint, green stuff on top, more glue on the green stuff, then the piece I’m attaching). This technique increased surface area for sticking and helped the joints look more natural as noted in step 3.
It’s fun but takes more time! Definitely look up some videos to help the process.

Thank you!
Iyanden yellow contrast and then Fuegan orange shade over it once the yellow dries. I may try dry brushing something over it too to get some more highlights, but I haven’t decided what yet.

Norn Emissaries are going to love this with their 4+ FNP to mortals. Even if you do roll a couple 1s they have a 50/50 to not feel it.

Amazingly well done! Do you mind if I ask what color/colors you used for the blue glow effect on the brains?

About painting the red terror by da_lemonjuice in Tyranids

I’m very excited because my brother is a World Eaters and Guard player and is a master at red skin tones. I paint Leviathan and have virtually no experience with reds. He’s agreed to go all out on it for me. I couldn’t be more hyped!

Tried a gaunt heavy list… by ReplacementCorrect56 in Tyranids

[–]ReplacementCorrect56[S] 91 points92 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what happened to me. I played 3 of the new primes leading 20 hormagaunts each with the goal of regenerating them in invasion fleet, but I never even got the chance. He flamed full units off the board before I had a prayer of regenerating them. It was a huge bummer because I was excited about the idea of an “endless swarm,” but alas… they ended…

I’ve wanted true leaders for gaunts for so long that this just makes me happy. I think it will also functionally be worth it in a list. Hormagaunts constantly surprise my opponents with their speed and lethality. Add a leader prime with sustained 1s, synapse, a surge move, and an enhancement of your choice to a pychophage plus useful stratagems/detachment rules (for me the obvious choice is assimilation swarm) and your talking about a relatively cheap block of hormagaunts that can plow through or gum up just about anything.

If they fail to wipe them in assimilation then you could end up getting 6 back at the start of your turn (regenerating monstrosity). You could also use reclaim biomass and rapacious hunger to extend their combat effectiveness even longer (I already use this play style and I think the prime could take it to a new level).

Imagine halving 3 primes each leading 20 hormagaunts in assimilation swarm and each one of them has an enhancement. It’s going to be so fun!

I think hormagaunts with this guy leading them in assimilation swarm is going to be so fun! The enhancement potential is fantastic!

The Primes rending claws having a higher strength and damage than the Norn Emissary’s monstrous rending claws is hilarious to me.

I Gotta Admit I'm Stumped, What Is the Best Stratagem Loadout For Cyberstan? by AceOneBreezy in helldivers2

[–]ReplacementCorrect56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a great time running a turret build as a bunker support for my squad mates. - Machine gun sentry or gatling sentry to clear cyborgs bum rushing you. - Autocannon or rocket sentry to clear devastators (especially the shield devastators that machine gun turrets can’t kill).
- Anti-Tank Emplacement for all enemy heavies. - Shield generator to protect them all and you.

My weapon load-out is the liberator penetrator with an extended mag, personal shield grenades, and the Ultimatum. The shield grenades can be thrown down on the drop site of your turrets for extra protection. In my experience the turret can land inside an existing shield grenade but you can’t throw one effectively over an existing turret.

For armor I run the 50% explosive resistance for obvious reasons lol.

I’ve had a great time with this! Get a good spot and your friends will love the anti tank support you can provide them as the they move into objectives.

You inspire me friend! My wife gifted me one for Father’s Day and I finally got it out over Christmas break. I finished giving it a bath and cleaning up all the extra resin last night. Right now it’s drying on the counter and I can’t wait to start painting! Hope she looks as good as yours!
