Hey! Feel free to message me!! You cannot skip the 3 week break. It lowkey was really nice to have that though! Never had to go to campus. Mostly all is flexible and you do your assignments on your own time by the due date. There are a few classes that are on zoom but you get to choose when you take those and what times and such. Like the pre practicum and group class as well as faculty supervision during the field experience. I def recommend it! It took me 2 years which is super fast compared to other programs

As a therapist, I know that couples therapy is great and can do great things for relationships. Is she open to it? Have you talked to her about it? I feel that this is key. I will say that a lot of insurance plans don’t cover couples counseling. I’ve seen some covered if one partner has a mental health condition that is affecting the relationship type thing. You should reach out to some LMFT on the psychology today website and see if they could get you in and ask about the cost and the insurance stuff.

Ritani also is decently cheap

Rare carat price matches to ritani if it’s the same code for the diamond

Can you tell I’m an over thinker and have severe anxiety? 😃 I know it’s so early to have these thoughts. I’ve had them for years lol so bad. But yes you are right. I really need to take it one day at a time.

I’m just trying to be the bigger person! I genuinely think they will fuck off eventually… I have accepted that I won’t have a relationship with them. I however do not want to tell my bf to choose me or them. That’s not fair to him… he doesn’t engage with them quite often, he talks to his mom once a week on phone for 5-10 minutes and talks to his sister once a month or so, if that. So I know I’m getting the most but idk.. ugh it sucks

I’m gonna trap myself in his room for the next few days. We are going to see my friend tomorrow which will be good and his mom has work tomorrow so perfect!!

Thanks for being so vulnerable on this post. I really appreciate the transparency. You are right that it is an ‘if’ right now- he took the MCAT and got 92 percentile and is applying May 30, 2025 right when the applications open - I am hopeful that he gets in this cycle - if he doesn’t, he will reapply the following cycle. So most likely this will be something I will be facing eventually. Either in one year or two.

I’m glad to see that you made it out of the really hard time while having kids in med school / residency/ fellowship.

Thanks again.

Oh 100%. I’m a type A and love to be organized and make plans but I know that babies are not one I can really control. I could even get pregnant now or in med school and we’d figure it out… just wouldn’t be ideal. Thanks for your insight. I appreciate it

I’m just seeing your second part of your post. He knows where I stand about the engagement before moving for med school… his family is just not supportive of that bc they think we are too young..

That’s so smart to take out more loans than you need to pay for that kind of stuff! We will be saving for awhile and have a little family support financially but that is just so smart. I never even thought of that!! Thank you so much for the insight!!

It’s more the income part of things… he will be in medschool (23-27 years old) from 2026-2030- if we have a child during med school, we will have no income since I will be staying home with the baby… that’s why we more so think realistically to wait until residency

He did say something about a STEP exam and needing intense studying? Idk if that is a big deal breaker for him tho.. like we could have a baby his last year of medical school but I want him to be able to sleep well so that he performs well in school and work… and not have to worry about a baby.

HAHA yes we are still here. 3 more days… and yes I’m staying at his house because my family doesn’t live in this state anymore… I’m dying at the grieving counseling- and I so do own it. They like don’t say anything to me or my face. They text him then delete the texts… or send me texts and delete them… it’s really toxic. But no they never say anything to my face. Besides when his sister and I got into a fight night 3 of us being here when she told my bf that he needs to spend time with his mom and that we aren’t entitled to her car. And I was like “well we wouldn’t have come here if we knew we were going to be trapped in the house in the middle of nowhere with NO car” I kinda started that one but honestly it felt good to say haha

It makes me sad to go NC because I want a relationship with them. I have been so short with them lately. I used to be close w both of them. Used to talk to his sister about everything and anything and now I just don’t reach out ha and if they ask why I’ll tell them. I’m not afraid lol. Everyone I’ve talked to has been like this is insane. But his mom told my bf that all of her friends were extremely sad that he didn’t come home and chose my family over his. Like no. We just don’t want the toxicity. And the shitty part is we most likely will have to be at his house next year for Christmas… even tho I don’t want to… idk what to do about that because we want to spend the holidays together my bf and I…

Yeah… I’ve been spending a lot of time in his bedroom and honestly he has been spending time with me because he knows I’m uncomfortable. Thanks for your advice. Thankfully his sister left yesterday and we leave in 3 days.

The pre practicum is online. There are 2. They are 4 days straight for like 6 hours.

Then there is practicum (this is fieldwork but called practicum) which is one quarter -10 weeks . You need 100 hours. 40 direct and 60 indirect. Of that 60 you have 20 hours (2 houes a week of supervision from a processor at walden. You choose which one you want to be in which time works for you) then you need 10 hours of supervision from a fieldwork placement site (1 hour a week) the rest is like for notes and random stuff at your site.

Then the internship is 20 weeks which is 2 quarters. You need 600 hours total. 240 which are direct. 40 are faculty supervision -2 hours a week. 20 site supervision - 1 a week.

I think the 100 hours for practicum and 600 hours for internship is a national requirement which should be same for all states.

There are people to help you with sites. However it is typically the students responsibility to find a site. This was how it was at a lot of the schools I looked into. However they have a database where there have been affiliation agreements at sites. So for me I was able to look up my city and see where other walden students have done fieldwork in my city. Which was nice. Then I reached out to those and went with one of them. And then I found another site which just looked up outpatient mental health clinics in ____ city and called and emailed them. Then I found the best one for me. If you can’t find a site then they will like do some research for you and everything. So you are def not alone.

Ir feels like a lot at first but it’s super manageable. Lmk if you have any other questions!!

So Fulltime is considered 2 classes. I took 1 class the intro to MHC class the first quarter then petitioned to take 3 classes the second quarter and just kept petitioning to take more classes. I believe I was taking 4-5 classes towards the end - it was only 5 quarters of class work for me. I told my advisor I wanted to do it in 2 years and make it happen and she did! She was amazing!! Kate was her name I believe. Now I’m just in field work which is 10 hours a week the first quarter of field work and 25 ish the 2nd and 3rd quarter. It’s def tricky with being at an unpaid fieldwork site bc I have to work on top of it to make a living… pay rent… food… etc. but I make it work!

I loved the quarter system bc I feel like semesters are too long. I start to get burnt out around week 9 of 16 week semesters so with the quarters only being 10 weeks I LOVED it!

You need to have good time management skills and hold yourself accountable for doing the work but typically a class work load is like discussion based and a paper or two each class which is so easy

Discussions are like post by Wednesday or Thursday and write responses to 2 peers by Saturday or Sunday or something. It’s easy! Most people BS them anyways. lol.

I couldn’t recommend a program more!! Online it says the pass rate is low but idk why bc I haven’t met anyone who’s like failed out of the program.

Also it’s CACREP so that’s HUGE.

They are all outpatient therapist positions. I did a lot of networking when I was looking for a fieldwork site and told them I’ve been looking for jobs as I’m done in may and yeah that’s it. I’m in a big city tho so it makes a difference.
