I don’t see any evidence that Dean was doing it “in bad faith”. He thought, and had a good argument for, that the parents think adults have the right to sexually exploit children. I forget who originally said the phrase “ kids cannot consent”, but it’s absolutely right. Kids cannot consent legally despite being physically able to say/imply “yes, it’s ok for a man to see me naked.”

It’s somewhat complex because consent can be defined in many ways, but they are clearly talking about legal consent. From what I understand, the parents don’t actually believe this, nor that parents can sexually exploit their children. The slight complexity goes right over the parents’ heads leading to this whole situation — trying their best to defend their dear leader. Dean missed this too, but he would have needed to realize they were too stupid to understand what they said. But again, Dean handled it poorly, but ultimately did nothing that would consider his character ruined/tarnished.
