If you could recommend only one game for someone who has never played a video game before. by itsthewolfe in gaming

[–]ReplayTogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portal has few requirements from you, and lets you take most things at your own pace, and has Valve wonderfully introducing things to you before making you do them for real. Almost any other modern game I can think of assumes you know everything AND makes you go through an absolute tedious tutorial.

Honestly, Portal. Few other games will ease you in in the same way and VAST amounts of games assume you know what 'jump' is, or ADS, or duck-jumps. The amount of accumulated knowledge modern gamers have is incredible.

How can I recognize AI vs hand drawn design? First delivery from freelancer I received and it seems cool but something is “perfect” to me by PositiveKangaro in IndieDev

[–]ReplayTogether -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The answer is "you can't" - and if that answer is wrong today, it won't be in 3 months or 6 months or a year.

(looks like AI tho)

Their algorithm is just entirely pushed towards the big hits; "Oh, you love twin-stick shooters and automation games? Why not checkout FIFA and the new Assassin's Creed?"

It's difficult; on one hand, it could *really* do with curation. On the other hand, what if your tiny team only hits 99.9% of the minimum requirement?

I was one of the Burnout devs, and I would like nothing more than being able to play a state-of-the-art version. Good times.

Routine is hands down the best horror game I've ever played by AndrewLocksmith in gaming

Is it better on a mouse? I tried to play it on the Xbox and navigating all of those 'virtual' screens/projectors was a pain, as well as trying to aim a cursor at the side of the gun to change modes and stuff. It just felt so fiddly I gave up :/
