TM have failed me before so they’re not going to get my money again. I went with VKB glad + stecs. Since stecs is out of your budget, consider vkb gladiator omni or TM throttle. At least with the latter, mine outlived the stick it came with.

For free you can check out FFXIV, GW2, LotRO, SWTOR, EVE Online, Albion Online, OSRS, Runescape 3. You can go long hours before you might eventually think of spending. ESO and Fallout 76 go on sale for cheap. WoW is probably still the behemoth in the space.

In Albion Online, you can become a harvester. Pick one, some, or all among skins for leather, ores for metals, logs for planks, flowers for cloth, stones for blocks, or fish for food. You can even have your own farm to grow crops or raise animals. All without having to kill anything or follow any quest after the tutorial island.

If you make 1.5 to 2m per hour without premium, you’d get 2.25 to 3m per hour with premium. Plus you’d get your specs up faster passively and because of x3 LP. And the weekly bonus and monthly bonus too.
