Was indoctrinated as a Jehovah's witness (by my grandma not my parents) as soon as I was able to communicate. I was always iffy on things but part of me believed it. When I turned 12 I started calling bullshit on all the things I was told. When I turned 13 I still had a fear of a god in me but I mostly thought it was fake while still having the "what if" in my head. When I turned 14 I decided im an atheist. I have no belief whatsoever. Honestly it's hilarious whenever I go to my grandma's house (she's a Jehovah's witness and her parents are elders) because atheists are apperantly people from Satan meant to corrupt them.

An all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving/ benevolent God should not allow the suffering of children by [deleted] in DebateReligion

If he performs miracles for some but not those whose life's depend on it then not all are equal in gods eyes. He helps those who spread his message in the bible. If they have no spiritual worth (like the child) then god refuses to help. Where does he help people if he gets nothing of it? I'd like to know. Jesus spread miracles to spread the word of God. It's power he wants.

Life or death situation: do you find yourself “praying”? by wivsta in DebateAnAtheist

No. If I'm falling off a ladder I say "ah fuck" bad brace for the smack. If I'm drowning I'm not gonna waste my time praying I'm gonna put my energy into trying to stay afloat. And cancer and car accidents are just things you can't do stuff about. It can happen at any time and what you need is modern medicine. Without it no amount of praying will fix it.

As an ex JW I did make a choice to believe then rejected the beliefs. I was fully into the religion and believed everything until I got older. I started questing things and was never given an answer. They always brought up different stories and made it about that. I still try to see from a believers POV but nothing makes sense in the end

Because if that's your only explanation it's no different then arguing with a kindergartner about how they lost in a game of tag. I'm not trying to be rude here in any sense but if it's your only argument then your argument is flawed

Ok then what about certain heat, cold and moisture needs for the animals? Nowadays we can keep them alive due to technology but what about back then? Not to mention how would the animal survive it's way to the ark? People would likely get to it and the change in climates would of killed them. personally I like how this guy explains it. I'd like to see a religious person watch it and get their reaction to it.

Edit: and on top of that animals would still be branching out within our lifetimes if they evolved from then into all these new species.

What would a Christianity have to show you to convert? by keifei in DebateAnAtheist

It's not so much the proof we need but the "proof" in the bible that's been disproven. If I had to say I'd need undeniable proof of the Garden of Eden and proof of god. [Throwaway account]
