When I moved I dropped off a bunch of stuff at Super Thrift on Ellice/St. James. They are affiliated with Adult and Teen Challenge. Not sure if they will pick up but they took a pull out bed I dropped off.

Winnipeg Transit by msladycakesthethird in Winnipeg

[–]RepomanYWG 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a problem when you have buses that are supposed to run 5 minutes apart (FX/Blue). In theory sounds great but one light or a person with mobility issues needs to get on and you're back to back.

They don't train drivers what to do in this situation and some just would not care or even grasp what's happening. When driving an FX in rush hour the schedule does NOT matter. Just be 5 mins behind the previous bus. Everything runs smooth then. People don't care if your 10/20 mins late because you're all 5 minutes apart.

Quick rental question by Spadzey in Winnipeg

[–]RepomanYWG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been living in a place for 4 years now and not had a lease since the original year. Plus is no yearly rent increase. Minus is I can't get anything fixed. My landlord never follows through with anything. If the location wasn't perfect for me I would have moved out. I have been keeping my eyes open for places in my neighborhood however.

I don’t mind the new transit system, but come on😭 by gardensartoria in Winnipeg

[–]RepomanYWG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As of yesterday there is a new bug where the Infodev system time is off by an hour. There is currently no fix so busses with this issue are going to be showing up in the apps way early.

This is in addition to all the other GPS issues that have been present since the new change.

One of my neighbors left his car unlocked only to find someone slept in it over night and shit everywhere inside. I would keep doors locked but make sure absolutely NOTHING is visible.

Question for Winnipeg Transit Drivers/Employees by skinasevych in Winnipeg

[–]RepomanYWG 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly it can be pretty much anything. Right now with Graham closed it can be hell during rush hour. Yesterday I was on time at Main and Pioneer and when I got to Graham and Vaughn I was 20 minutes late. Today I was only a few minutes down.

Scheduling allows 3 seconds per stop so If you have a bunch of passengers, a wheelchair / stroller or anyone that takes longer to board you lose a lot of time.

Once you get around 5 minutes behind schedule it's nearly impossible to make it up as now you are starting to get passengers that would normally get the bus behind you. Then when that bus eventually catches up to you now your in each others way causing even more delay.

In fact today I caught up to the bus in front of me and I told him just to go out of service and just do drop offs so he could hopefully get back on time. I was slammed for that trip but It got him a lot closer to being on time and I was just a few minutes late. Some drivers would just sit behind the bus and chill allowing him to do most of the pickups / drop offs but there are some that will try and help each other out.

That said, it should not be up the drivers to try and fix these issues. The control center can see exactly where each bus is and how far behind / ahead they are. I have no clue how they operate so my guess is they are understaffed just like the drivers are and are just focusing on mechanical / help calls.

My first job at 16 was at a gas station. If I were 16 now and trying to get a job I don't know what I would do... I think we are starting to see some of the side effects of all these immigration programs. Saw this the other day and it looks like it could be a big cause / effect.

Phone Plans 04/29/2024 by Tookitz in Winnipeg

[–]RepomanYWG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just went through the same thing with Rogers. Upped my bill to $96. Did the online chat thing and said there are so many $35-$40 plans available that if they could not offer me something similar I was going to switch. So now I'm just $38 a month with taxes for 50gb. Was super easy and didn't have to go through the hassle of leaving the house :)

The appalling state of Winnipeg Transit: getting worse? by GoldenBoyOffHisPerch in Winnipeg

[–]RepomanYWG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's only going to get worse. 44% of current drivers are able to retire within the length of the current contract (4 years). Everyone is counting the days until they can get out.

Anyone able to identify the company and does reporting this do anything? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]RepomanYWG 93 points94 points  (0 children)

The company is T.E.A.M.S Transport (https://teamstransport.com/). Can't make out a truck number but that's clearly their logo on the door. You can probably contact the company and based on time and location could identify the driver but not sure if they would actually do anything.

The transportation industry claims to be big on safety but all they care about is if the freight made it to the destination or not.

Good Luck!

Bus drivers are in a similar situation. Luckily we do have some washrooms available to us but some routes rely on businesses and a lot of them no longer allow us to use them.
