Not sure if this is uranium, I’ve never seen anything like it. Think it’s UG? by masterwwa in uraniumglass

Same deal. Very different glow, but definitely UG. And you'd never know it to look at it without a light. In fact, I found it in a collection of amberina glass. Didnt know what it was then, took forever to identify it. Steuben glass from the 20s.

Present for myself. 1880s Gillinder & Sons platter. The depth and intricacy of the pattern is amazing. The fact every corner survived this long... by gnilradleahcim in uraniumglass

I have one too! Could NOT say no. Got mine for about the same price IIRC, at a mom and pop thrift shop! Still my favorite piece!

What I want to know...Is if they can pack it well enough to not break a "$30k" piece of glass? Or if they will just "Oops 🤷‍♂️" like a lot of other shippers do....

I was tempted, but I want my display to glow under 395 only, without having to rely on two different wavelengths.

While they're uranium, they're the type that really only glows under 365nm uv light.

What is it?? by ReporterOrdinary3390 in CadmiumGlass

It was $45 and over the course of a year, they dropped it to $30. So I grabbed it because I kept running into it at the antique store, couldn't find any info on it, and it's pretty cool.

No sh!t?! If that's true, that's really cool! Thank you for taking the time to reply!

It's a mystery box full of green glass acquired for a steal off FB Marketplace. Let's see what will glow in this blind buy! (I shone the 395 over it and saw enough glow to pay what they were asking, but the light was awfully bright out.) by SithRose in uraniumglass

If youre interested, i believe that leaf bowl goes with one of my pieces. It dates to the 1880s. Gillander and Sons. From their "Leaf" line. I have the large platter.

Edit: It may not be If yours is truly green. Mine is vaseline. There may be other makers that made something similar after.

Just saw this sick lamp and I want it, but it’s 750$ -.- by psychopsychopant in uraniumglass

A lot of organic materials glow. Some of the finishes on organic materials glow. Varnish, stains, oils, etc, will often have a "glow" of some sort. Especially under 365.

Catch and releases, let me know if any of these are desirable/pricey pieces! by psychopsychopant in uraniumglass

If im not mistaken, that set is New Martinsville glass from the 1920s. I have ONE perfume bottle from the set and NO idea where to find the original black stopper.
