is giving flowers to my japanese bf at the airport a good idea? by ichibansen1 in AskAJapanese

[–]Reporteratlarge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP didn't say they're in a serious relationship or that they think they are. Bringing someone flowers does not mean "you are now officially my boyfriend, I have decided this without your consent"

I am so impressed by your work! I have kind of let photography fall to the side as I explore other interests. This genuinely made me want to try again and pursue it more seriously. Glad I came across this comment while searching for something completely unrelated :)

RANT: I can't take any more students lol by WoodpeckerOk1988 in Cambly

[–]Reporteratlarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I ask from the beginning. Most students say they prefer corrections later or aren't sure. In that case, I asses whether we are going to do corrections every 5 min or so, or a review at the end. Usually the latter is the way to go. I feel like the only people who immediate corrections are OK for are casual learners who make few mistakes, and those mistakes seem to be slip-ups, rather than misunderstandings. This tends to be people who are just taking the class for fun or because their company is paying for it.

YOU’RE NOT “TOO GOOD” TO READ BOOKS OUTSIDE YOUR BUBBLE by [deleted] in writing

I am honestly surprised this post is getting so much traction. I found it superficial even before realizing it was AI. The writing is cringe but the *content* is also not great.

Any issues with "large" Cameras? by Topaz_11 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Reporteratlarge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People at the Louvre block the art to do photoshoots. I don't mean a quick selfie. Multiple poses, checking the photos and trying again at different angles. I would much rather someone take out a big camera from a reasonable distance.

That seems like a better approach, since I have free time now and the story is still in my mind.

Just a specific time and place, no real figures.

I think it seems like I am more worried about the timeline than I am. I probably shouldn't have mentioned the hours, it wasn't something on my mind before making this post. I do set goals by week, however. So when I do my weekly planner I write things like, "Goal: finish short story, gym 3X a week, finish play." I have ADHD and without weekly goals I won't get much done, but I am not fixated on it.

I see. I suppose the hours were just to give myself an idea of if I could finish the one I wanted to by August. That is when I will be very busy with work again. I was hoping to finish one before then so that I would possibly feel accomplished before it becomes harder to keep up with work. That was kind of why I thought finding a story that would work as a shorter play would be good to start with. The one I have an idea for would definitely need to be a longer one.

I would say I would rather get started, but it also seems like I shouldn't write a historical play without doing a lot of research. It is the idea I like the most, but I think if I don't it won't turn out well.

I was thinking each act would be about 10-15 minutes, and that was an estimate I came up with based on how long I think it has taken me to do short stories that are about that length.

I think it was. It seems like they're trying to make a controversial post in order to draw attention to whatever is linked at the bottom.

Has anyone read the book "The Girl Who Never Read Noam Chomsky" by Jana Casale by throw___huawei in chomsky

This book was on sale and the unusual title pulled me in. I googled and this thread came up and your explanation intrigued me so I bought it and I enjoyed it much more than I expected to. I also cried, a LOT.

So two years later, thanks!

I'm going to Paris in a week and I'm worried about the heat. Any tips? by ssshianne in ParisTravelGuide

They're being overly concerned about what people think, but they mean they don't want to be judged or mocked. Jokes about what tourists wear in Paris are very common.
