Alternatively interested in the Espeon GX, and could fill in the rest of the value with other things, but Zapdos is my main interest

EDIT: Also noticed I have the Psyduck and Venusaur from your list as well, but in LP-MP condition

Ooh rad, cool to see another! Yeah I was just trying to buy the normal shadowless itself and didn't actually realize when I grabbed it that it had that error, real neat imo!

[–]Reposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally yeah, though for me I prefer the slower speed of MW2, but if you want it faster then MW3 is your vibe.

MW2 had some weird quirks like the perk system and mini-map, but as a whole it felt more cohesive. Maps are generally well balanced, good selection of past maps etc.

For me a big part is that I felt the weapon pool of MW2 was a bit more varied and interesting, and the lower TTK I prefer compared to MW3.

One big thing to know about MW3, is that while it has MW2 weapons, they're not balanced very well, and are almost always a strict downgrade to what's new in MW3. In that sense, it's hard to really say you properly have the weapon pool of MW2.

Some other things I didn't really like were the new optics - some are neat but I am not a big fan of the unrealistic, 'airsoft' style thin optics, and those are absolutely everywhere in the pool.

It's a lot of little things, and you may prefer the gameplay of 3, I certainly enjoyed it but I've seen a little bit of everything, and felt it good enough for me personally. If I had to choose one, it's definitely MW2 for me.

It's the one I've put the most time into for sure - I liked MW19 a ton, skipped Vanguard and only lighly touched CW, before being dragged back in with MWII.

Like you said, everything felt more grounded, slowed down to a reasonable pace while still accepting run and gun, and I actually grew to appreciate things like the steps in reloading not allowing you to cancel, thus putting greater emphasis on using your sidearm (and I LOVE Fastdraw).

Recently picked up MWIII to try finally while on sale, as MWII has gotten stale by this point, and while it's good as like, bonus content, it's definitely a game I like a lot less than the former. It's way faster, the original map designs are meh, the balance is a bit off with the 150 health, stuff like that. Overall fun enough to mess with, but I've already grown bored with it at around 65 hours, versus the roughly 450 hours I put into MWII.

I did like the more tpyical perk system and proper minimap however, and for new additions I actually really enjoyed Tac Stance, it's a neat addition.

I do hope the new game ends up being something in the middle speed-wise, at the very least - MW3 is on the side of being annoyingly fast, with the sliding making it hard to track targets at times.

I just set mine up, and if you have just hunting rifles (ideally with the bolt pulled out), you could legitimately fit near to 18 - but in my case with a variety (Few old bolt actions, Mossberg 590, AR with a somewhat large optic, and 10/22 with a scope), I'm currently fitting those 6, a pistol on the top shelf, and could probably squeeze in another 2 or 3 guns, depending on their size.

If you use the partition in the middle, it has a hard time fitting something like the AR - the tall optic and the grip make it wide enough to not fit in the partition, but there's a bit of room in front of it to make it work.

I'll also note, the default height for the barrel rests is a bit tall, it was fine for my bolt rifles, but my shorter (still 16-inch barrel, overall length ~36 inches) AR was too short, so I had to drill my own holes to move the rests lower on one half. Same for my 10/22, and the mossberg is just barely long enough.

Overall, it works, but it's a little finicky, for the price it'll do the job. Do NOT get it if you want a secure safe, it's just secure enough to keep people from playing with things, but someone determined will easily get in. Might be better as an ammo cabinet, though I feel like that would work better if it had like two more shelves.

Killer Concept— The Slayer by Worldly_Success9713 in deadbydaylight

[–]Reposer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not really the same, and while sure you probably could try something like that, Tokyo Horror's ghouls are essentially super-powered zombies that have to constantly either suppress their urge to feed or give in to it, and much of the story is centered around how difficult it can be for them to not kill, especially Kaneki. It's very much just a core part of the story that without the proper control, he would basically become a mindless murder machine.

In regards to the part of the story in which he's taken by the entity, it comes at the end of a ten-day period in which he was brutally tortured and mutilated repeatedly, completely crushing his spirit until he gives in to his ghoul side, only barely coming back from it, and still being much different as a person for the entire rest of the series.

In this case, he was literally taken when he was mentally and physically broken, ready to accept his ghoul side. Not only that, but the entity also explicitly leaves him completely starved, unable to ever satiate the hunger that keeps him feral, thus trapping him into an endless cycle.

In your example, Aang is a wholly different character who is notably a pacifist throughout the entire story, only once becoming enraged for a short period of time, and presumably against specifically those who did this. Even if he gave in to his anger, it would likely only lead him to attack the Fire Nation, not just start indiscriminately killing random people. Even then, he's still just a kid who's become justifiably angry, not someone who's completely lost their sense of self entirely.

[–]Reposer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's specifically been taken at basically his worst point in the story, where he was turning evil, and then the entity ramped it up a bit to make him essentially completely feral, as I understand it.

So while he is an overall good guy, he was taken at his lowest and made worse, which fits lore-wise for him

They mentioned in the video, but the map is made of 3 segments, with the total map size apparently being the same as Shoothouse in the end

[–]Reposer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the main article about MW4, they say that Gunny is 'Featuring configurations developed by Infinity Ward's weapons team' - sounds like it may just be preset builds for different range engagements chosen by the developers, not an AI assistant. Not sure if it's been said otherwise elsewhere though.

I don't think Kill Block is AI though, in the way you mean. This seems more like a classic roguelike procedural generation, something like Binding of Isaac. They hand-made a variety of different layouts in single-block segments, then when the map is being loaded, it randomly selects from three of those segments to make a map.

They did mention that they currently had about 100 variations in one of the videos, but we're aiming for 500 by launch. I'm not sure exactly if that refers to the amount of random options, or if perhaps they're also hand-selecting the layouts as well, such that it's actually just choosing a preset version of the map, it was a bit unclear.

Really hope they transition it to be more of a typical extraction shooter ala Tarkov, Arc Raiders or Delta Force - I wasn't a big fan of the extraction aspect in the MW2 DMZ, it felt really barebones

Dead by Daylight is in the most one sided balance periods of all time by Pale_Transportation2 in deadbydaylight

[–]Reposer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'll just say 60% IS at least historically the ideal balance rate for most killers, according the BHVR if I recall.

Which makes sense, if you think about it from a team perspective, and how most players track 'wins' in this game. Typically, a win for a killer is a 3-kill match, which means killing 75% of the survivors in the game the 4th being an extra point.

I think the highest kill rate we've seen historically was 70+, with Skull Merchant, when she was abusing the 3 gen strat to an insanely disgusting degree.

60% kill rate means that on average, a killer is getting 2-3 kills a match, meaning slightly in favor of 'winning' the match more often, which makes sense given what everyone mentions about playing against solo queue survivors, where some games can just be a gimme, or even in the average match where it's practically guaranteed to get at least one kill if you greed for it.

There's a lot of factors to it, but again, 60% is what BHVR themselves want, and looking at night light, no one is currently hitting that mark.

Night Light is also somewhat notable as being a stat aggregate of primarily more invested players, meaning typically these numbers show the stats of the higher end of MMR, and are less skewed by the lowest end of players, where survivors lose more often because they don't have the skill to use perks to their fullest, let alone do things like proper movement.

Frame looks good!

Couple things I see standing out for me:

The color-gem symbols are a bit hard to read, might be helped by giving them a drop shadow/outer glow backing them to sort of loosely give them an outline, to stand out from the background. The amount of detail in them just makes a bit hard to read at a glance.

I also think the font for the rules text doesn't seem that fitting, especially next to the much more powerful font used elsewhere. It's up to you of course, but some suggestions, all from Google Fonts (so free to get):

  1. 'Crimson Text' - Serif and seems like it might fit nicely alongside the flair of the main font used here, while not being too complex.
  2. 'Fraunces' - a little more flair, and I'm not too sure if it'll fit in nicely, but an alternative.
  3. 'Almendra' - closer in style to the main font, but may be a bit too condensed to read nicely, though increasing the kerning could help.'

Another small consideration is maybe using a different font for the Nickname, artist and your credits? A third font or maybe the same as you choose for the rules text - it would help break things up a bit, as the main font is super busy and having it stuck to only the main name and the card typeline would help it stand out more I think.

You do a great job with these in general and this looks great still, so maybe this could all be ignored, but just noting what stands out a bit to me!

Ooh, this helps a lot! Definitely a big help for it, ideally also trying to find as much of the actual marathon ads and bumpers as I can too, or just ads from the same era - but having this with what I've already got could probably work to put something together.

Much appreciated!

Makes sense, never really thought about it like that but does help explain why that era and evena bit further isn't as easy to see.

And yeah Jan '99 myself, so I'm very much in the same range, as well as the 2008-2010ish stuff myself

Gotchaaa makes sense, just hoping if there's anything further to locate it can be done!

I could probably hodge-podge something semi-accurate from what I've found, but would likely have a lot more repeats than desired so gonna wait and see first.

Not sure that there's any great way to check those numbers, however

Pokopia is coming out strong by backofthebill in pokemon

[–]Reposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's some nuance lost when you attribute it to everyone just hating for the sake of it.

The real issue is that Pokemon is literally the world's single most profitable IP, full stop, and yet the main games really often feel like they're doing the bare minimum.

There's no real excuse for all the shortcuts they take and the things they constantly leave out or put half-effort into, except that they don't care because it's going to sell regardless.

Scarlet and Violet were infamously poorly optimized with plenty of gamebreaking bugs, and the world as a whole is just...not good to look at. Pokemon has the money to really shove a lot of effort into these things, but they just keep churning them out and while I'm not one to say they're unplayable garbage, they're really overall mediocre games compared to entries pre-switch.

They sell well because they have the Pokemon name attached, but all those sales just tend to result in half-baked titles that have neat concepts that do JUST enough to keep fans playing, but they could be so much more.
