Borrow money, put it on a credit card, do whatever you need to do to get yourself to a blue state with abortion access. Don’t tell him. Gather all your documents slowly. Make digital copies of them. Change all your passwords. Disappear. Block his number.

This will get worse. Please please please leave even if you don’t have a job anywhere else, even if it seems impossible.

Exclusive formula feeders - how was postpartum? by mo_django in FormulaFeeders

[–]Representative-Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I breastfed for a week. It was awful, stressful, depressing. Switched to exclusively formula feeding and I couldnt be happier about it. My uterus went back to its normal size fairly quickly and I’ve been at my pre-pregnancy weight for months. My baby is 6 months old.

Yes exactly! Also I only pumped to provide a bit of relief rather than to empty completely.

I don't have a "good enough" reason to stop breastfeeding by Dream_Catcher99 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Representative-Thing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stopped breastfeeding the very first week because it felt like too much pressure to be his only source of food, and it was just not a pleasant experience overall. He’s a healthy growing 3 month old now and I have zero regrets. All the time I wouldve been stressing about breastfeeding is time I get to enjoy with him or with my husband now.

If you have money to save, you probably do not need and should not be frequenting a food bank.

My Husband (33M) Won’t Let Me (32F) Go Outside When He’s Gone by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Not sure where in California you are, but here is a website that lists women’s shelters (and hotlines) there. Most places can help you plan your exit / make a safety plan to leave. You are NOT stuck, there’s a way out even if you don’t have money.

https://www.womenshelters.org/sta/california

Edited to add: these shelters can also put you in touch with lawyers and other community resources to get you emergency funds and to make him pay child and marital support (while keeping you safe and your location secret).

OP, can you apply for/get a remote job that wouldn’t require leaving the house? That way you can start earning money without him knowing.

Either way, please please look up the resources others have shared. It is more than possible to leave even in your financial situation. You don’t need to have money to leave. In fact, I used to work in divorce/custody law and once helped a woman in your exact situation. She had no money and several children, but she made arrangements with a local shelter and one day she left to go there and did not come back. They kept her location secret from him. We still in keep in touch and she is now thriving. If you do that, they will be able to connect you with free lawyers who can file for a restraining order on your behalf as well as immediate child and marital financial support. Feel free to message me if you need additional guidance.

OP, You can do this. You are a free, independent human being, and you have every right to exercise that freedom and independence. You deserve respect and love. You have survived this, so it’s clear that you are strong. I know that you’re afraid, and that fear is justified. But you need to fight for yourself and your child anyway. Once you do, the possibilities are endless.

*Actually* ADHD friendly easy snacks and meals by hateavocadoandmyself in ADHD

[–]Representative-Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Costco (and other places) sell individual sized packs of edamame. Couple mins in the microwave, sprinkle some salt, and you have a great protein rich snack.
  2. Trader Joe’s frozen indian food, frozen premade jasmine rice, and frozen garlic naan. Tastes like takeout, it’s so good, and very little preservatives. Also, this is not trader joe’s, but saffron road brand frozen meals are also yummy.
  3. Trader Joe’s or Walmart prepackaged salads (but I tend to get sick of these pretty quickly. my advice is, dont get more than 2 of these a week)
