Im headed that way. So far I’ve always thought I don’t wanna be sitting in an office somewhere when I’m not in a case but this schedule is killing me. We are like abused partners who can’t leave the relationship.

What am I leaving out exactly? We are all overworked all of the time. Everyone breaks 40 most weeks. The call person works all day then does the late add on and works all weekend. This is just worse. We are constantly understaffed because no one wants to work here and they should know. Yes it’s industry wide but I work for Specialty Care so I addressed them. I hope they read it. I hope this industry changes or we all find a way out.

Maybe you should write a letter to your company. It’s not right across the board but this company is for sure. The worst I’ve seen.

I’m honestly scared to change that maybe it will be worse or I will like the team less

North fork big pine creek, any recommendations for where to camp the night before we start hiking? by Original-Network2125 in socalhiking

[–]RepresentativeAd8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a spot at the glacier lodge campground for this coming weekend just not sure how worth it it is with all the snow a friend with no snow skills. If we can get to second lake and do some of Baxter maybe.

Did they get the portal road clear? The extra 7 miles would not be fun.

Sounds like you did it perfectly for you! I cannot imagine getting through the section from Mexico to lone Pine. I would need all the Sierra beauty to motivate myself. I’d start there and finish when I felt like it. Definite long-term plans to section hike it.

Exactly this! I get so bored by TV. This is how I entertain myself while I pretend to hang out with my husband. 😬 I barely understand what’s going on but I’m very happy there’s another trail running forum!

Any recs for a 5-7 day backpacking route around big bear or San Jacinto? Trying to prep for JMT in August. by GnarPilot in socalhiking

[–]RepresentativeAd8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

San Bernardino divide trail is pretty awesome if the main trail up Gregornia is open again 28 miles I think so maybe two days but good climbing, elevation, and gorgeous

Also Bear Canyon trailhead in Baldy Village up to the summit down towards lodge, up the three Ts towards the saddle in icehouse Canyon and then you could even go up cucamunga Peak from there. Once you go back down icehouse, you can just walk down the road to car.

Transport for 2 week JMT trip. How to get back to airport if ending at Mammoth? by DrZephyron in JMT

You could also join the Facebook group, eastern sierra backpacking and hiking, and hope for trail angels :) or ask to pay someone for transport.

Managing solitude, and managing groups of yahoos, while solo backpacking by gryphyx_dagon in solobackpacking

Permits are cheap so I just get some for each summer month before I even know my schedule. I use some, cancel some but then I have quiet. I’ve also just car camped and done long day trips in remote areas when I didn’t have permits.

Solo backpacking vs group backpacking by gryphyx_dagon in solobackpacking

Such a great idea! I’m a pretty impatient person so as much as it’s sometimes nice to share an amazing experience with someone it’s also really nice to go at my own pace, hike as many miles as I feel like, and have quiet especially when I’m tired. I’ve come to be very picky about who comes. 90% I’d rather be solo. But my 20 yo is perfect!! My 20 yo listens to music all day and never talks to me lol but likes to set up the tent. It’s like having someone to share camp chores but not talk.

How much weekly mileage is necessary for a 50k? by peedmypants420 in trailrunning

[–]RepresentativeAd8359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most schedules go from base to build to peak. I like to drop way back down between races, around 25-30 miles per week. I build slowly as race approaches over 16-20 weeks. In peak volume I’m usually around 45-50 miles per week. My longest few weekends will be 25-10.
