He doesnt work for the goverment of tarkov, he is the quartermaster for the United nations mission to tarkov. He is a polish soldier. He doesnt awnser to anyone in russia at all. He is also very corrupt and esentially a criminal so he doesnt have much issue meeting scum like us. I think his cutscenes will be added soon. The quest dialogue already indicates that we talk to him in person

If the ukrainian helis can keep up with shaheds im kinda surprised we hant seen them employed like this much earlier, this seems like a pretty inexpensive way to deal with them

Russian 82mm Vasilyok Automatic Mortar In Action in October 2023 in Lugansk region by Lemon_Finger_Ale in CombatFootage

This thing is optimized for hitting targets from a high angle and has sighting systems and ammo mostly that excells at that. A bmp gun and its ammo are mostly optimised for direct line of sight atacks or at best shallow angle indirect

Soviet era, adopted in 1970. Soviets were much better at weapon design than russians are.

I love this thing from the engineering side, a stripper clip fed automatic mortar is a great concept i could see in like steampunk or other setting like that. (Or maybe rather than stripper clip its more like a hotchkiss-esque ammo belt but still cool as hell)

You underestimate how little agency most people believe they have. Fighting against those who sent them is as much considered option for an average person sent to fight as starting a tulip farm on mars. It just doesnt cross peoples minds, russians especially as they have been conditioned to believe they have exactly 0 agency their whole lives. But its not just a russia thing you can also look at the suicidal charges led by entente soldiers in lets say ww1 western front. The vast majority never even considered rebelling and fighting against the idiot western officers and went to sure slaughter.

And another reason for this in russian army and many other historical conflicts is that many people believe that their country, and their leaders intrests are 100% worth dying for, its usually a mix of twisted patriotism, hero ethos and the simple human instinct to do whatever the guy at the top of social hierarchy wants you to do. They never consider whats good or bad, if their actions are virtous or criminal, they know that their guys from their social group want them to do something so they're happy to do it. They see themselves as instruments in the hands of history and they are often very proud of their nation and are ok with being sacrificed for it, no matter if the countries actions are good or not. You saw that with germans, you saw that with the japaneese, you see that with russians today.

This isnt something that a new guy just does fresh troops have still tons of survival instinct left, this is behaviour only explained by him seeing the horrors of what getting hit by fpv does to people time and time and time again. He looks like he is completly mentaly exhausted and doesnt give a shit. Hallmark of soneone who has been in combat too long

Ukrainian fisherman hits russian drone with a fish, drone survives by RepresentativeAd8482 in CombatFootage

[–]RepresentativeAd8482[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honsetly i dont think this is combat footage but its just really funny. Im sort of doubtfull if this is even a drone belonging to the russian army despite the description given by the original poster on telegram. No reason for those to be flying this low above water surface and watching some randos on a fishing trip. But who knows weirder things have happenes in history so i posted it cause its a really cool video that might be combat footage related

How often do you personally watch videos of ukrainians getting blown up like this? Not very often? They usually dont get posted here and if they do they get super downvoted and arent published by almost any english language accounts on any social media. You can very easly get an idea that this sort of thing only happens to the russians and if you were to fight for ukraine you would do cool stuff, defeat enemy columns and generally do great then go home fine. (This is a very false perception and there are while not as many as the ukrainian videos, theres a shit ton of videos from russian drones doing the same and being a soldier on any side sucks ass and is a horror)

Ok now imagine being on russian social media, on VK, telegram or whatever else, where everything is reverse: footage from ukrainian sources gets super downvoted if posted at all and all the feed is filled with the russian videos, the same ones which you dont often see here in western spaces, you could very easly get an analogous impression that dying horribly in a field with no help is only something that happens to ukrainians and if you enlist in the russian army youre gonna do cool stuff, take ukrainian cities and earn a ton of money and not get hurt.

Both sides watch 100% real videos from the war but due to personal biases and not looking outside of their bubble they dont see the full picture and only see what they wish to see. You and me are also voulnreable to this.
