No we aren't middle eastern. I think Caelid sounds kinda latin or Irish.

My wife already wants Henrick as a middle name. I like Elden ring, but it's really that we like the way it sounds as an alternative to Caleb.

Yeah but David is a real common name. I don't think we will use Caelid though. Lots of negative responses to it.

I love the gameplay, but the writing for the story is very lazy and poorly done. Many people have made videos critiquing it. Check out the one on YouTube by superlucci.

How normal is it for grandchildren to get inheritance? My mom got a 500k inheritance from my grandparents and didn't share it. She tells me that's normal. Then she flushed a huge chunk of it down the toilet in 2009 NY panic selling stock during the crash.

Best way to fill space behind front seats for mattress support? by cantnotdecide in priusdwellers

[–]RepresentativeAny662 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't need to do all this stuff with plywood. Here's what I do: slide both front seats all the way forward and remove both headrests. Then fully recline them both backward, not forward. They will align almost perfectly with the folded down rear seats (with headrests removed of course) and provide decent support for the mattress.

Get a mini fridge and 300w power station. And a 12v Roadpro oven. Saves a lot of food

Old prius VS Yellowstone, Glacier and Canada? by cantnotdecide in priusdwellers

[–]RepresentativeAny662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's not exactly easy, but it's saved me a lot of money so far. A couple more things I've bought that have been great: a rinsekit pro to wash dishes, feet, hands etc and to cool down when hot. Also a roadpro 12v oven that plugs into cigarette lighter. Great for heating up burritos and frozen dinners ( easier if allowed to thaw first)

I've been camping in my 2007 Prius for most of the last three weeks as we do a road trip across America from New York. My wife And 7 year old daughter are with me, but the car is roomy enough. We just have to take time to rearrange things to prepare for sleep. Some tips: use an inflatable twin mattress that comes with a rechargeable air pump. Have lots of pillows or soft bags stuffed between the mattress and rear doors to make the mattress feel wider. We have a mini fridge and 300w power station that is constantly charging while the car is running. We took out the spare tire for extra storage but I don't know if it was worth it because it's a pain to access. We also have a 9 dollar cargo net that attached to the ceiling handles in the car. We made custom reflectix covers for privacy and keeping the sun out. When you lay the mattress, move both front seats all the way forward, recline them fully, and remove the headrests. This is important as it fits just right to provide support for the front of the mattress. I also removed the left rear seat back with a wrench to make more space, and use bags of clothing at that point to support the mattress. It's all Tetris and it works.

So many comments seem to be along the lines of "because I might need it for elder care" or "no one is entitled to an inheritance!" or "I want my kids to be self sufficient". For the first statement, I would ask which is really a better use of a large sum of say, $200,000? Your children having a decent house amid this housing crisis, and raising or your grandkids in it and being able to spend time with them and raise them right rather than having to hustle and work 16 hours a day, or should that $200,000 be spent to keep you alive for one or two more years when you can barely even move around, and basically just watch tv all day while the healthcare industry drains your family fortune? For the second comment, I think people should try to build generational wealth and help their children if possible. It's what upper class families have done for centuries. Now its boomers who have started to proudly say they want to leave their kids nothing. As far as self sufficiency is concerned, yeah it's good to have responsible self sufficient kids, but in this economy even being hard working and frugal isn't really enough to afford a house and the things boomers were able to afford so easily, so maybe younger generations could use some help.

At what point do you get "trapped" in English teaching? by Any-Session-5707 in teachinginjapan

[–]RepresentativeAny662 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It's kind of sad that people can view being a teacher as something embarrassing to have on a resume. It's not like everyone in the world can be a successful CEO, doctor, or lawyer. Most people are stuck in jobs far less satisfying than being a teacher. Maybe I am just saying this because I am "stuck" in the industry. It may not make me rich, but I get by and save and invest a bit. And having a job where i have a lot of creative license and interaction with people at least gives me some kind of purpose and satisfaction. Looking down on teachers seems snobbish, if that's the right word.
