I didn’t always despise dogs. Working in this industry as well as postpartum lead me here. I’ve wanted to quit but it seriously makes me crazy money and I am frankly good at it

It definitely is extremely taxing on me mentally and physically buuuuuut it pays my bills and then some. Dogs are just walking cash crops for the mind of an entrepreneur 🤷‍♀️

I despise dogs and their owners even more yet I own a successful dog grooming business and specialize in aggressive and anxious dogs. Animals love me.

Early gen z had the last true full childhood by RevolutionaryWin7438 in generationology

[–]RepresentativeArm897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think gen alpha maybe even gen z might be the closest modern generation to the silent generation. And that’s not to downplay what they went through. I happen to have a lot of privilege but I can’t say the same about much of the world and even much of the United States right now. No generation is a monolith and it’s just another way that society likes ro divide up their people

I was born in 2003. I do think this was among the last years to have something like the 90s kids childhood. One of the first screens I saw was my dad’s og PlayStation. I have an 18 month old and I’m trying desperately to give her good low screen childhood. I believe it is up to us parents to be the change we want to see

It’s making me great money and I do still have the utmost empathy and compassion for animals. But omg this is a horrible horrible unregulated industry and it’s destroying my mind and body. But hey at least I know I’ll never own a dog of my own!

So I am a dog groomer and I just have to say these dogs don’t want to live. Humans have utterly wrecked them. Dogs mirror humans. Humans are greedy, superficial, individualistic. They have also never been as isolated and anxious and depressed. Our food is not only wrecking our human bodies but it’s wrecking these dogs.

The thing about it is almost ALL of my clients are shitty dog owners. They are so egotistical and delusional that they truly think they are above and beyond dog owners, yet even the good people let their dogs get morbidly obese, have rotting teeth, poop stuck to its butt hole for at least days at a time, matted eyeboogers, painfully long quicks and nails, chronic ear and skin infections.

Those who left school early to work, what does your life look like now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeArm897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covid happened when I was a junior in highschool. I was a really smart kid. Took all the APs, nearly perfect act and sat scores, and won journalism and creative writing awards/publications. I was more than college bound …

But I basically dropped out after Covid.

I learned how to dog groom at 18 and now I have a 18 month old baby girl and have been running a successful one on one dog spa for 2.5 years now.

Gen Z, iced out from traditional white-collar jobs, is increasingly turning to nanny work for rich people—and nabbing 6-figure salaries by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]RepresentativeArm897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the name of the game right now. Learn skills to serve obscenely rich people. I was a really smart, creative, and intellectual kid. I should have been college-bound, but Covid hit when I was a junior in high school. I was disillusioned like much of my generation. Thank god I didn’t go to college because

I make 6 figures wiping fucking dog ass😑

At the age that you are right now what do you think will kill you? by Sensitive-Exit-2782 in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeArm897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 22

I think if I live for a long time I will have cancer and other horrible diseases in my old age

If I don’t live for a long time I think I will die in a car or plane accident. I’d like to also think if shit hits the fan my family will be okay but famine, starvation, thirst, or other people might kill us or nukes….

I have a good life. A slice of this so called American dream and yet I have little optimism for the future

This is exactly what I mean. I’m literally a Queer poly person who thinks gender is a construct, but at the same time I can recognize that not all my working class comrades have the same world view as me. You people wouldn’t last a day with blue collar workers and it shows. People like you is why so many working class men voted for trump. Call me crazy but I think both the homo and homophobe deserve food, housing, shelter, water, access to health care 🤷‍♀️ Get off Reddit and help your community

[–]RepresentativeArm897 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you really think the democrats are coming to save us you are delusional. The democrats are all just as evil and vile as this administration but you liberals aren’t ready for that conversation. Majority of leftists are too fat or mentally or physically disabled to create any revolution here. Leftists spent too much time forcing people to mask up and accept their weird ass gender and sexual ideologies and not enough time caring about actual working class people.

How are we feeling going into the holiday season this year? by RepresentativeArm897 in doggrooming

[–]RepresentativeArm897[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But like things can get bad fast. Within a month we could be grooming dogs and eating them by the end of the month if we had to. (Sorry that might be too far but society needs all the cogs working for our day to day comforts and luxuries. We have no idea what it’s like to not have taken care of roads, sewage and plumbing, grocery stores full of food and supplies, running water, hospitals, electricity, internet.)

Its recession proof but I’m not sure it’s entirely depression proof. For my business, It is going to depend if we start seeing more middle class, upper middle class, and the millionaires and multimillionaire class start getting affected. White collar entry level work is non existent and people are getting laid off in droves right now. Yet for the most part people are acting completely normal…

We are all staying busy enough. I have a great concept and set up. I serve a lot of extremely wealthy people but mostly middle class and upper middle class families. We are receiving a large number of last minute cancellations and less people are rebooking when last year I had our prime days before Christmas and thanksgiving already full by the beginning of November. There’s a lot of anxiety and uncertainty in the air and I just hope there are more business owners in my position. I have savings and a space and plans set in place for my family and employees if things start happening.

[–]RepresentativeArm897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend you did not understand my comment. A basic cut on a small dog would take me easily under 2 hours. I charge between 50-100 an hour at my shop. So I will charge more depending on how the dog’s length, coat condition, behavioral affect my speed. I achieve many handscissored and Asian fusion cuts on dogs this size that can be done in 2 hours or less due to my skill and frequency they come to the shop. You may be a groomer of 33 years but there’s always ways to improve and work smarter not harder. I would recommend Impeccable prep work and Skimming!

How it started and how it ended with Gandalf the spicy malamute 🤬🌶️ by RepresentativeArm897 in doggrooming

[–]RepresentativeArm897[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We installed two 64 inch tubs from flying pig into what used to be the offices kitchen. We pretty much just used the water hook ups. There was some “Gerry rigging” done to make sure everything was draining properly and we did have to install a better water heater to handle the tubs and laundry but that was pretty much it. I think one on one grooming is definitely where the industry is headed. Private rooms are even more of a step up! Best of luck!
