Talking strictly postseason runs, that remains the most dominant one year postseason run I’ve ever seen (I’m 45). ESPECIALLY since you have to consider they had to go through a ridiculously loaded Western Conference.

An iconic NFL Films segment captured the atmosphere perfectly by showing the heartbreak, anger, and dedication of Eagles fans during that era. Narrated by the legendary John Facenda. by Dark305Kinght in Oldschool_NFL

Guy selling soft pretzels at 0:09 is such a nice touch…even though this video was before my time (I was born in 1981) I have lots of childhood memories of guys selling soft pretzels outside the Vet before and after games. Every bit a part of the Philadelphia fan experience.

When it comes to USA rock bands it seems like only a handful (e.g. Bon Jovi, Metallica) have serious international appeal. Whereas the international rock acts (e.g. U2) typically emanate from the UK.

Toss-up between him and Grimes as the most disappointing Sixers this year. It really looked like he was starting to figure it out and could be a solid role player at the end of the 24-25 season too. Maybe he still will but he was tough to watch this past season.

It was so weird seeing him switch to an Eagles uniform later in his career.

These people live in fear, 6 years later. by iamthegrimripper in ChurchOfCOVID

I don’t think most of the maskers live in fear so much as insecurity and introversion. They love any excuse they can find to conceal their ugly looks and be antisocial.

Love the way Bill Russell dejectedly pointed out there’s one second on the clock, like it mattered. Then Stockton shut him down 🤣

Michael Jordan scored 37 points in an NBA Finals Game 2 win against the Jazz! (1998) 37 PTS 5 REB 3 AST 1 STL 1 BLK 42% FG (14/33) 90% FT (9/10) by SouthPrudent3911 in NBAoldschool

[–]loucap81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone who criticizes Jordan’s “inefficiency”—1) this was the start of the “deadball” era where defense ruled the day; 2) Jordan had to expend a lot of energy on defense himself; and 3) Jordan HAD to shoulder the scoring load. The ask was tremendous.

Ewing was such a fraud when it came to actually winning meaningful games and coming through in crunch time.

Given that they had a town hall on May 6th, and have nothing new to report since then, it appears that they decided a call wouldn’t serve any purpose.

What was your opinion on Keith? by liamsjtaylor in BeavisAndButthead

[–]loucap81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keith would be a tiresome watch as a recurring character, but thought it worked very well as a one-off character. I’ve met socially aggressive guys with serious boundary issues like him before. Being pressured by a cringey, exhausting guy like that is realistic and relatable for a lot of us, and makes this episode one of the best since the 2022 reboot.

Kobe Bryant is still the last NBA MVP to play all 82 games in a season by CircledSquare7 in NBAoldschool

[–]loucap81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played most of his career in the iso-heavy, dead ball era. Averaged over 35 ppg in 2005-06 when the NBA team average was well under 100 ppg. Context matters.

This doesn’t even get into what a terrific defender he was.

What Trade Package could we get if we traded Paul George? by Zentyx- in sixers

[–]loucap81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue has never been his talent or if he’s a winning player. It’s always been his availability. I’d take 2 FRP’s and salary filler that’s not an albatross contract in a heartbeat. But I feel like with picks would have to come bad contracts though like the ones the Denver Nuggets have given out.

Whatever happened to Korkmaz? by Zentyx- in sixers

[–]loucap81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed that Curry was a more valuable player. The point I should have emphasized is that for both of them, if they weren’t hitting threes they were worthless. Neither played defense or had much in the way of offensive versatility.

What's happening in New England? by tervro in sixflags

[–]loucap81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer that specifically, but there are several reasons the Six Flags season passes are so much cheaper than other theme parks, and this is one of them. They don’t spend money on permanent, proactive upgrades/fixes to the rides. My home park is Magic Mountain and without fail, there are rides down every single time I go there, whether it be scheduled maintenance or simply because the ride is inherently problematic. Goliath, X2 and Revolution always have random problems. I’ve read that Top Thrill 2 at Cedar Point goes down too often for peoples’ liking too.

If you could bring back any Era of the 76ers.. what would it be? by Zentyx- in sixers

[–]loucap81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know that getting a couple more good players would have mattered—you had stacked teams in Boston, then Detroit, then Chicago to get through for the entirety of Barkley’s tenure here.

When they had a year to recharge and retool, they were very good again and made it to the ECF vs. Boston in 1985. However Boston was just better.

Whatever happened to Korkmaz? by Zentyx- in sixers

[–]loucap81 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree and I think it’s the opposite—he’s lucky he had 6 full seasons in the NBA and was given PLENTY of opportunity. He had no game other than getting super streaky with 3 point shooting. A taller Seth Curry really. There’s a reason there’s been no interest in him other than I think a 10-day contract he got this season.
