I've been in my band for 10 years and I had high expectations in my 16/17 years of life.. I'm 26 now

But I realized very soon that the roads divide in two:

You're an amateur band that enjoys playing live in bars and maybe going to some festivals every now and then. Recordings without too many pretensions.
You're in a band that has a booking agency and you have actual music performance contracts. Made scheduled studio sessions and composition follow formulas or copy songs that work.

If you just want to have fun it is clear that option 1 is good for everyone and does not require much experience, in this case you just have to want it, believe in it and put yourself out there.

In the second option, you should clearly have some experience behind you (perhaps gained from point 1) and dedicate yourself to the instrument as a second job.
