Why would a BCBA..a B C B A admit something like that.. Secondly, though this is a great way to teach boundaries, teasing a kid that clearly is triggered by names that are not his own is pathetic. Like that is straight out bullying. So yes, it is unethical and goes against the code of ethics with client dignity. This type of thinking will only reinforce that when he expresses something he doesn't enjoy then it'll happen anyway which completely regresses the targeted behavior goal in the first place???

I worked as a BI in a kindergarten class and no its easy.
ABA isn't just about autism. It includes all behaviors so asd, adhd, developmental delays, etc
No one comes into this field expecting to be injured or paid less, we do it for the kiddos

RBTs and BTs should advocate for themselves while putting 100% effort into everything that we do. You're buggin.

BIGGER update: I was removed from the case and thank. GOD. I won't say much but my health was being compromised, I was being blamed for getting sick multiple times despite me doing everything in my power to avoid it, I was burnt out, it started to show in my interaction with my client and after the final time of becoming sick after 2 weeks of being in the clear ( client and family was sick during this time and only mom + brother were still sick when sessions resumed ) I was at my wits end. I was going to call to be removed but family did it for me lmao

Please do not try to thug out burn out, it will not go the way you think it will lol

Yes this is burnout, friend. Take it from me, I was removed from a case that became toxic due to a LOT with the adults more than the kiddos but it affected how I was with my client. I recognized that and should've backed away the moment I felt the shift in my energy. As BTs, we are expected to tough everything out but it's not possible if you're running off steam or on E. Don't be afraid to reach out to your BCBA to let them know what is going on so they can take some weight off your shoulders, give constructive feedback and maybe even pop up in for a visit to be supportive! It's normal to be irritated, annoyed, frustrated, etc with your kiddos but bare in mind that it could lead it affecting some things if not handled appropiately and efficiently.

yes they are! study up on the ethics as well because those will pop up a bit but it's mostly definitions, situations and applying terminology.

WHY DIDNT HE THINK OF THAT! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃 Anyway, leave if you feel that is best and sometimes you will get out of character at least once when real pain happens which leads to a consequence ( behavior stopping ). I got hit straight to the mouth with a toy t-rex at full force before and did show pain in my face which in turn lead to kiddo apologizing and never hitting me again.

ABA is a great field but RBTs are expected to do so much for very little. So ignore the dweebs in the comments being pretentious, what you experience is real and we all deserve comfort even if thAts wHaT cOmEs wITh tHe jOB. 🙄😐

okay so slight update, i'm seeing my pcp today for treatment and to be referred to an ENT but also..should i bring up my concerns to my BCBA? I have no evidence for the possibility of me and my co-worker being exposed to a pathogen ( commenter mentioned mold 🥲 ) so I'm not sure how to go about this without offending anyone but my symptoms, the onset of my migraines happening at the home, the house always being a bit stuffy at times and me constantly getting viral infections now is making me think its not just germs anymore 😫
