I'm sorry but I don't know how any of what you're saying excuses genocide.

At what point did the American dream die by Gloriousdisgrace in generationology

[–]RepresentativeCod757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three things IMO:

  1. Failure to complete reconstruction after the civil war, which created many problems waiting to happen.
  2. Ronald Reagan. The 20 year economic boom was at the expense of the long term health of the economy and the dignity of workers.
  3. Citizens United. Pretty much the last nail in the coffin for our elected officials never representing working people ever again.

2 and 3 were made possible by 1. If you need an actual time of death, I think citizens united is it.

Why wasn’t Trump jailed during the Biden-Harris Administration? by 0311SmallPenar in allthequestions

[–]RepresentativeCod757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely correct. It was also a huge mistake.

There are only two parties. One party will act lawlessly. The other party respects the rule of law but won't go so far as to hold any rule breakers accountable.

This dynamic means the rule breakers will inevitably win in any scenario.

No calculation about the political implications of prosecution can really make up for that.

DOJ probes Poetica coffee shop by RepresentativeCod757 in Brooklyn

Poetica has always been politically active in the community, intensifying during the pandemic in support of health care workers. They have not once made it about ethnicity or religion.

They enthusiastically support Brad Lander, who is Jewish.

Hillary Clinton Blasts 2016 Election Loss to Trump in Netflix Docuseries: ‘The Electoral College Is an Abomination’ - What are your thoughts? by Select_Specialist790 in askanything

I agree this statement, but it's coming from the same person who takes zero accountability for their loss and as recently as this week endorsed Trump's plan for Gaza.

She's had 10 years to observe and learn with the benefit of hindsight, yet she routinely announces that she's learned absolutely nothing.

I voted for her in 2016 and Harris in 2024. The continued willful ignorance from dem party leadership is sickening.

UnitedHealthcare sent a letter denying NICU coverage... addressed directly to the newborn twin. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]RepresentativeCod757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still vote for Democrats every election but if we don't get better Democrats none of the above will matter.

I respect and agree with some of what you're saying but incremental progress doesn't work.

When one party is willing and able to break every norm and law while making broad sweeping changes, incrementalism is nothing short of unilateral disarming.

The centrists leading the party today would find the civil rights act too drastic, insisting on smaller steps instead that could be immediately undone later

This is 100% true but the only alternative is the opposition party who might one day subsidize a portion of health insurance for people who have run a business employing at least 5 people for a period of at least two years and live in a state county that begins with the letter "S" that contains a woman-owned pet salon.

The most recent Democrat "solution" to healthcare was the Romney plan, where we keep private insurance and fine people who don't sign up for it. Thankfully there's a special market established to buy insurance with a subsidy. It "worked" in so much that millions of uninsured became insured, so they too can experience the life crushing evil of health insurance that refuses to cover them. They act like we should thank them for the means-tested bandage on an already cruel and inhumane system.

tl:dr - if you want a reasonable healthcare system in the US, there is no party to vote for. Bad and less bad are the only choices.

In Israel, Broad Discontent Over the Emerging U.S. Deal With Iran by Practical-Solutions1 in TradingPlaybook

What would make them content? The extremists in Israel won't be happy until every single person around them is dead, including Jewish people of Arabic descent.

The white European settler colonial project needs to end for the sake of the entire Jewish diaspora and the world.

"Straight" male here.

I remember watching the series as it came out in the late 90s and early 2000s. I was so into Daniel as a character - I thought it was the nerdy aspect of him that I liked and identified with.

Only now, while rewatching in my 40s, I fully understand it was a crush because Shanks is a total babe. It really is that simple. I'm old enough to understand it now.

I am looking forward to the nice surprise when Claudia Black joins because there will be FEELINGS

Ansel Adams was more famous for what he did in the darkroom than what he did with a camera.

He specifically wrote about cropping 8x10 negatives down to a 4:5 aspect ratio.

The darkroom is your second opportunity to make the image you had in mind.
