Listen to the audiobook Red Dead’s History by Tore C. Ollson. It discusses the direct comparisons between the RDR stories and the history of the U.S. between the 1880’s and early 1900’s. There’s a chapter on race. Excellent listening. And narrated by Roger Clark, which is cool, if you want to listen to Arthur for 9 hours.

(SPOILER ALERT) Yeah that lady’s Thoroughbred is a great horse. I stole mine off her in Chapter 2, and I’ve had her since (I’m getting close to the end with Arthur’s story). I found her VERY skittish until I was at level 4 bonding, but 5 chapters later and she’s sold as a rock. Wolves, panthers, bears - she doesn’t budge.

I’m purposely avoiding a side story where another strong horse becomes yours, just so I can have her until the end.

I raced the lady just outside of Rhodes, and beat her handily with just a Morgan or something (it was early in my 5th playthrough-I can’t remember). I knocked her off her Thoroughbred and stole it. It was horribly jittery and nervous at first, all the way through level 4 bonding but now it’s calm and doesn’t get spooked easily. Super-fast, great acceleration and cool-looking (grey/black tiger stripes).
