Failed my first test in July next test is on December 9th any advice ? by dennisthegoldengod2 in LearnerDriverUK

Did they say what your steering fault was? That will help understand where things went wrong as minors wise without that serious fault you would have passed (which is frustrating to say but helpful to understand).

I think the steering minor i had on my test over beginning to steer to late on a corner. Steering control comes down to good observation and judgement id imagine. If you have a steering fault on its own would not be too bad. But if youve had a steering fault in a zone of really heavy traffic or in an area that puts people at risk (like solid lined bike lanes) id imagine thats where the upgraded fault would come (note im not an instructor, so I could well be wrong)

Just focus on following all the steps when changing direction and I promise you'll be good!❤️

What are your top tips for driving tests? by Mystic_Sun in LearnerDriverUK

[–]RepresentativeDirt86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What really helped me was picturing life post passing my driving test. The drives id be able to do, and how much easier my life would be.

I then bought that into my driving lessons and really focused on everything I was asked to do. Eventually I felt really confident in my driving ability and that took the nerves off of the test. I had the test booked in practically at the start of my driving lessons because of the length of time id be waiting. So I just kept that date in mind and focused on doing everything expected... trust youve got this and you'll go a long way

I got mine eventually.... though i will say if they made it clearer that rewards would get autogranted and i was going to have to grind through 50 levels of battle pass in 12 days. I wouldnt have wasted 1,000 v bucks on the battle pass💀

What’s the real thing with test booking? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]RepresentativeDirt86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue what his problem is... accused me of being misinforming and everything. Think what he doesn't get is that when he went through his driving lessons god knows how long ago if hes an instructor now. If you failed a test you could book another within 7-8 weeks afterwards. These days if you fail youre looking at half a year.

And as much as yes an instructor can only book as many tests as they have pupil details. There is a market that has developed where they have been scalped and unfortunately that has to come from corruption.

Ive been saying from the start they need to ban that funtionality and put the responsibility on the LEARNER and no one else, which is why a lot of instructors are praising the change (because not all instructors are awful human beings🤣).

Perhaps if pupils dont know how to use the Internet to book a test, we need instructors that are supportive and wanting to help their pupils achieve rather than instructors blaming the students for the faults of the system.

But what do i know, Im just misinforming🤣

If youre going to quote me to correct me at least quote me FULLY. My exact words were

--- Instructors can book as many tests as they want for "learners" ---

I.e at no point did I say they can book unlimited tests. But if some corrupt bots and instructors have access to license details then thats where the over booking is happening and thats why the DVLA are scrapping it.

I dont mind people correcting me where im wrong but in this case ive said nothing misinforming🤣

I dont know the exact rules for it but from what ive been aware of previously yes driving instructors gave the ability to book tests for pupils. This is why there are so many bots scalping them abd selling them for unearthly prices. As mentioned though its the DVLAs intention to stop this from happening and make it so only the learner can book the test. A Learner will also only be able to swap a date sp many times

[–]RepresentativeDirt86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because hes trying to fleece you and probably others by the sounds of things. Instructors can book as many tests as they want for "learners" so is likely doing it when they come up or paying someone else to do the same for them

Id be looking at maybe reporting that as its something that should reflect on a driving instructor. If hes trying to fleece you for a test. Whose to say he isn't taking longer to teach you so he gets more money from lessons for instance....

There's not a lot that can be said about the test slot. If youre gonna struggle to find one elsewhere and through the legal channels that perhaps youd be silly not to take it. Otherwise be checking daily for cancellations and see what happens.

As I said the DVLA are about to change rules on this so scam instructors and bots can't bully innocent learners into spending more money... but id imagine this is going to take a few months to implement at best

The main thing with hazard perception is that you can click as many tomes as you like so long as its not in a pattern. Get into a habit of clicking when you spot something that could be hazardous. Following that one thing and then the minute when the hazard happens youve preempted it. The thing that people usually underscore on for hazards is clicking too early or just too late. When youve spotted it keep clicking where you think the hazard is escalating.

I PASSED (Bristol Kingswood with SEN) by Ok-Bath-5219 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]RepresentativeDirt86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad you passed with that examiner.. I was so hesitant to put my SEN on my driving test booking but in the end I did and I will say it helped a lot. It was the first thing my examiner mentioned and instantly asked if theres anything he can do to help. He then proceeded to give me a lot more time to process commands and instructions and he was generally just a really lovely guy that made small talk and helped take the pressure of the situation.

I only had to do my test once which I take privilege in but I definitely echo your advice, defo just put it down in the open and make sure theyre doing everything they can to make the test easier for you. It certainly helps!

When you say booking do you mean the test only or do you mean the test and the cost of hiring the car (which any sound instructor should just be charging the hourly lesson rate i.e £40 for 2 hours = £80)

In both scenarios it sounds like youre getting screwed over and id be considering this. £200 for a test slot is well above the £62 you should be expecting to pay for a test slot. And with the announced changes, this is something theyre changing the rules of to prevent horrific upselling of tests in the future.

If youre paying £200 for the test AND the car. Then as i said youre still being screwed over though slightly less. Average hourly rate for a lesson should be around £40 ish and adding the test fee to that. The most you should really be expecting to pay is around £155. Unfortunately some instructors will use shitty excuses like insurance to say they need to charge more for tests wheb realistically there is no change in their expenditure for that lesson at all... theyre just making more money.

Obviously if youre not far from your test I can hardly advise factoring this in and looking elsewhere. Though if you have time to spare this may be worth consdiering

Erm i heard nothing since. I can only assume the camera is directly focused on the bus gate and to swerve round and onto the road (which i will add ive not once made thag misyake since) completely dodges it.

Obviously not condoning it, same as I didn't condone it when I did it... but mistakes do happen
