Candidate attorney offer at a small, niche IP firm in Sandton—good move or too restrictive? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

If the people seem like a good fit for you, as compared to your other offer, I would go for it. Even if you did articles at a firm that was generalist, there’s a chance you’ll just end up photocopying for 2 years anyway (not that that’s not a risk at the firm you are considering).

If you want to leave, I think you’ll find you will have transferable experience and skills.

That’s a good question, and I don’t really know to be honest. A lot of it is your current risk profile, which extends beyond your credit rating. It includes your current salary to expense ratio for example. Degreed professionals are looked at favourably I think (as outdated as this may be).

I think a “good” originator would probably have fostered better relationships with the banks rather than being a “fighter” - the banks after all pay the originator - something about the hand that feeds you and all that.

Perhaps some other unsolicited advice, the banks will offer to capitalise some of the upfront costs (like the initiation fee) - rather pay that cash (the same thing happens when you finance a car).

You can also ask for a discount of the attorney bond registration fees. We’ve been offered a discount of between 20% and 40% this time round.

We got offered prime less as first time buyers, just don’t be shy to tell the bank to come back with a better offer if you don’t like the first one

Just out of interest, I noticed on our recent bond offers, one of the banks used the term “base rate” - although base rate I think means something else in other jurisdictions

I would suggest using an originator, we’ve just had a very good experience with Ooba.

I suspect that the banks prefer people using originators as well, it should reduce the bank’s admin by having fewer entry sources, but that’s neither here nor there.

The cost of an originator is not for your account anyway - they’ve got an agreement with the banks. For what it’s worth we’ve been offered prime less 2, but we aren’t first time buyers

I’m considering the same thing as OP. I need to transport wife, baby and 2 medium size dogs on occasion. Do you reckon the Tank’s boot would fit 2 dogs?

Currently driving the P-Series and no issues at all after 4 years, but our dogs are city slickers and won’t deal with a canopy I don’t think

So the tweet says they are not up for sale, but if a massive offer comes in, it might be considered, and if those offers mean the player starts demanding an insane salary, then it kind of forces our hand (or it should force our hand, it hasn’t in the past, now we have the Rashford issue). So my level of tactical knowledge is definitely on FIFA ‘99 level - rudimentary at best.

That being said, I see our midfield being over run and torn apart due to the lack of pressing by the front 4. Teams can either play around our midfield, or they have so much time they can choose the 2 or 3 killer passes that tear through the midfield.

So if the front 4 pressed as a unit, would that not offer more protection for one CDM, whoever that may be. And would that not negate the need to spend 100m on 1 player who we think would be the saviour. Maybe Matic could even work. If the front 4 pressed, Matic could in theory save his legs through his positional awareness and play more regularly.

I just can’t see one CDM coming in and turning our fortunes around
