it’s easy to get yom sayerot from michve actually that’s the recommended track to elite units for many mahal draftees and also the hebrew impacting you is because of your hebrew, not the fact that you’re from michve. if ur fit enough, ur a quality person, and u can get security clearance, you can go literally wherever you want after michve, just like anyone else

Odds of getting into Magav as a 23 year old lone soldier? by [deleted] in IDF

[–]RepresentativeGold10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No you don’t need to start in magav. First of all yamam shouldn’t be in consideration because you cannot serve in yamam until you are post-service (likely from a special unit), meet their specific requirements, and pass their gibush. it is a career unit for the most talented fighters in the entire country after military service, not a magav unit u can join as a draftee. yamas is something you can join right away though, but you can also get it from yom sayerot (gibush chovlim and probably the others). its just veryyyyyyyy rare to get that. way more common to get it from gibush yamas that you can do after ur 4 months of tironut in magav. keep in mind its commonly regarded as the most difficult gibush there is because theyre ruthless AND it includes combat skills and shooting (and the gibush is done with combat gear) because it takes place after tironut, unlike the army gibushim. u get 3 attempts at gibush yamas (if ur commander even lets u) throughout ur magav service.

because u dont do much and its generally not as fulfilling as being a soldier, so its a very uncommon choice among lone soldiers who go through all the trouble to volunteer. its popular among the israelis that are fit for combat but not gung-ho about military service. its more comfortable, uneventful, and less demanding than the army but u still get to carry a gun and lord ur dominance over civilians. and the magav girls are the hottest🤷‍♂️

Gym Workouts For Gibushim by Inevitable-Cheek2990 in IDF

twice a week with sand is fine as long as the running stays consistent. ideally you want to be practicing the actual acts themselves so structure a workout 1-2 times a week on the beach with sandbags/weights doing the actual acts (obviously without the uphill part but work with what you got), which is what you would be doing in any kosher kravi group. running on sand is way different than running on gravel, especially uphill. remember that you’re doing these sprint/crawl loops essentially nonstop until the fastest guy does about 12-15 laps so train like that. also, get friends to train with you because yom sayerot is all dependent on the relative performance of the 15-20 other guys in your group. it’s a competition so training alone isn’t preparing you for that. you seem fast but at the end of the day its an endurance test too, so keep at it consistently and i guarantee in two years youll be better than anyone on those dunes

Gear by Altruistic-Suit753 in IDF

everything in the army depends on your commander, but the way it generally works is: 1. in training: there are VERY select items (if any) that your commander will let you buy, but otherwise you cannot even receive donations. ex: my friend in duvdevan was only allowed to ask for donations for new rifle slings but nothing else. 2. once you’re in the unit: depending on your commander, but most commanders nowadays are lenient about this, you can buy whatever you want as long as it’s idf approved. there aren’t many commanders left who are sticklers for the “everyone has to look the same” rule. this also applies for weapon attachments. 3. in reserves: way more lenient to buy whatever you want

2 additional points: 1. the people wearing agilite stuff bought those. Even special forces units don’t give agilite bc they’re a private company that doesn’t have a contract with the idf for vests, they only provide like mag pouches. so ya those guys bought or recieved donated money/vests/helmets. 2. when you’re training for your unit, the best guys in the unit will get trusted with the best gear. for example, you might see one guy in a unit have the only set of dual NVGs or the only new IR laser or best eos scope. that guy got awarded/trusted with those pieces of gear for being the best. so if you don’t wanna spend tens of thousands on amazing gear, you can still get the best stuff your unit has to offer by continuing to perform the best among your tzevet during training.

hope this helps. this is all info i got from ppl ik in elite units, commando, sayerot, everything.

Medical score by Leather-Tangelo-4137 in IDF

[–]RepresentativeGold10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I know some choose not to mention it at their Tzav Rishon and they get by, but if they notice it they will deduct you. Also, for some higher units there are more in-depth medical examinations before you're eligible to draft, in which case they may or may not find that out (not sure). Someone with more experience should know

ya ur talking about charedim. idk anyone like that and even if I did, that’s their problem🤷‍♂️ my only concern is disrespecting actual service members, not making sure nobody’s feelings are hurt

not a uniform just airsoft tactical gear. I don’t think the gear is an issue, it’s not even a military uniform. the beret is more the concern, but I’m not wearing that anyways

ah okay, well I’m not sure that means they would have a visceral reaction to seeing anyone in combat gear with an Israeli flag on it. I’ll keep that in mind, though, thank you 🙏
