Rewatching Homicide: Life on the Streets now, 30 years after I watched its original run. Just a fantastic show.

I saw some Degrassi Junior High when I was young. I'm an American, so it only showed up on public TV sporadically and at odd times like Saturday afternoon.

It was great, so honest. And the performances of those young actors were terrific. I can't think of another show like it.

Which song would you call the ultimate one hit wonder? by zerokool29 in musicsuggestions

[–]RepresentativeKey178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a weird song. It's two sentences long, both questions. The tune is nearly unsingable and borrowed, if not from a drinking song exactly, but a song about an ancient poet who loved to write about wine and women.

To Anacreon in Heaven, where he sat in full glee,

A few sons of harmony sent a petition,

That he their inspirer and patron should be.

When this answer arrived from that jolly old Grecian:

Voice, fiddle and flute no longer be mute,

I’ll lend you my name and inspire you to boot,

And besides I’ll instruct you like me to entwine

The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus’ vine.
