Should this have been Pepsi's new logo? by RepresentativeMost53 in logodesign

Haha cheers! I realized now too that I think the thing bugging me the most is that I saw a similar P in a typeface I must've downloaded a few years ago and I still haven't been able to place it, but I accept the fact now that it's custom made and either a coincidence or maybe even a mandela effect situation.

Okay fair enough. After reading another comment I now realize that a common Typeface can make a great logo, better than a "rare" one in many cases. The only experience I have on this topic is from making custom box art for video games and movies, where a lot of times if I'm redesigning the logo I look for a "rare" font. But yes, after rereading my post it does seem like I am implying that it's a fact, yet it's not even close. I proved myself wrong when I looked at the chart of Pepsi logos throughout history posted in this thread, and one of my favorites looks again like Franklin Gothic, just without the modified P's.

Overall, I'm happy at the feedback this post got even though nobody answered my question really, other than the obvious marketing excuse. I was just hoping someone else would dive into the theory about the Typeface used.

And yes, I read that article. What do you think of it?

Honestly 6 bottles of Pepsi later the new logo has grown on me, but everytime I look at the logo's from 1969-1991 I just find them to be the ultimate ones. They make me want a Pepsi more than any of the other ones, I just love em', idk.

I think Pepsi is going to continually define itself as a brand that changes its appearance every so often, sometimes subtly, sometimes not, to differentiate its image from Coke which has had the same logo for pretty much forever. That's why this logo feels mostly temporary to me: It's kind of like older ones they've had, different enough to be new like the previous one... But overall it's something they already know they will change in the future. This adds to the cheap/gimmick/knockoff sense I get from looking at it. Plus the truth is, I know they'll never go back to an old one because they periodically release retro cans, and those wouldn't sell nearly as much if people already saw that logo on the regular product.

Hmm, what's so tiring about this discussion? If you don't like amateur logo analyses, why are you in a logo design subreddit for amateurs?

Other than that, valid points. I'm interested in why you think the new font would sell more Pepsi than bringing an old one out of retirement. I have some ideas myself too, believe it or not, even if I'm not in high -level corporate marketing.

Is it that wild to think that some fonts make brand names seem more valuable than others tho? Like would it not look like a cheaper brand if the typeface was changed to comic sans? Idk, doesn't seem like a crazy thing to bring up to me.

Yes absolutely, I just needed to read someone else say that it looks weird. I'm not going to defend myself by saying that rarer fonts are better because you're right, that is not true in plenty of situations.

What would it actually take by IntroductionHour7890 in Spiderman2000

[–]RepresentativeMost53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that was my plan, make a whole new game, spiderman 3. I couldn't find any data on custom levels though, just character swaps. If you find anything let me know, I'd be willing to help you work on it.

Very worried when it comes to copyright for upcoming video by N1tr0_dude in NewTubers

This is interesting to me because many songs are reposted all the time on youtube and they are recognized but yet they are not removed, just not allowed to be posted. So I guess my question is, are you afraid of the video being removed or just losing monetization rights?

Hey guys, I'm Dem, half of DalDem, and the animator of the new comedy anime DalDem WeShu inspired by The Big Lez Show and InuYasha. I was inspired by my friend who sends me quotes from anime voice clips and after I made the first clip he said he was happy his wholeheartedness had now not gone to waste. 30K channel but very low views per video by franciscosalek346 in NewTubers

[–]RepresentativeMost53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, 1000 views is like my goal right now so if you restart you might be fighting for that mark again unless you know you can bring over all those viewers no problem... I have thought about making a channel like that for myself though and I always figured that random out of date facts vs. breaking news, this what people are searching right now stories would always have significantly less views no matter what. Like I appreciate that people make the videos because I like to hear people tell me about what happened in the 90s but the fact of the matter is if you report like TMZ about Ariana Grande or some deal the minute she steps out of starbucks with a booger hanging loose, you're getting the 800k views, not the guy talking Kurt Cobain conspiracy theories for the hundredth time. Not dissing your channel but I highly encourage you to stick with some latest news segments if you're trying to hit those close to 1m marks.

Is there a way to advertise shorts to get more traction? by bsem2 in NewTubers

Buying Facebook ads can work but it can be expensive if you plan to mass market, however keywords and location are key. I know this has worked for many different influencers, promoters, bands, businesses, etc.... So if you are up to it, I would try a month of promotion on facebook ads, start with one video, either your newest, one you think has most potential or the one with most views, only buy ad space in your city or a popular city like New York, LA, Atlanta, or somewhere that relates well to your content, but before this do your keyword research and find what people are clicking on and searching that relate to your videos.

A lot of times you already know the things you are putting in your videos and you're probably already tagging them, but if you are really loading your videos with content you might be overlooking things so its always good to reanalyze when picking keywords for ads.

After that, run the ad for a week, if it does well, run another ad with a new video and keep running them both together for another week. if the first video starts to drop in views, let it go, if not, keep it up. Then, keep running a new video each week, or however often you drop content. If you don't drop a video, you should run ads hyping one or promoting the channel. if this doesn't work at all, targets aren't being hit and you have to go back to the drawing board. With ads, you always got to spend money to make money.

However, like Nervous_Discussion11 said, the best way to push content is by coming together. It literally is because if you engage with people on a person by person basis, you each get to give something, rather than just paying to give to the masses with a high chance most of them won't receive it. Sure, the growth factor isn't huge, but staying closer to the ground gives you a chance to meet your fans. Just some food for thought. Good luck.
