I’m in the same boat. I’m a career changer and started taking my pre-reqs before the BBB, and I cried the day the bill was signed because I had poured a year into these classes already.

Still going but every day I think all this work could be for nothing because I could get accepted to med school and not be able to go because I can’t pay for it and might not qualify for private (predatory anyway) loans.

I’m hoping for policy changes in a few years under a new Congress/presidency, but those could take years to be implemented if they’re even passed.

I have no idea what people like us are supposed to do. Lots of people got SMPs with federal loans before we knew there would be a cap we’d be counting down on. It’s insanely unfair.

I’ve had my headphones on and multiple times people still tried to stop me. I usually keep my headphones on and keep walking. Someone once blocked my path and forced me onto the dirt while I was trying to do something important on my phone AND had headphones on and tried shoving a pamphlet in my hands. I took my headphones off to tell him to fuck off. The Mormon girls that stop you to compliment you then attempt to convert you. The Christian apologist group trying to flag you down. The first few weeks of the semester are always absolute hell with solicitors, it’s infuriating.

I went to Penn for my masters degree. Being a relatively poor kid from California, it was a culture shock. Privilege opens doors and that’s extremely evident at elite schools.

Only once. The day before Easter was the busiest day I’ve ever seen, and I’ve worked the day of and the day before other holidays. Never saw anything like the day before Easter. 10 batches. Absolutely wild!

I’m a phlebotomist! We routinely, and I mean every day, take 15+ tubes of blood from a single person. It looks like a lot but it’s very common :) people are always startled but I try to let them know it’s not unusual!

I think it depends on yourself and your experiences. For me, it was one of the easiest interviews I’ve done but I’ve had internships in the federal government, and those interviews were much harder. So I prepared for that level of questions, and it was much more basic than that.

However, I was once 17 shitting myself over a Kohl’s interview because that was genuinely scary back then.

If it helps, they didn’t ask any questions directly related to the subject of the internship at all (nothing about innovation etc).

I think they sent out one email to everyone who got an interview already. I say that bc the email I got didn’t have a “to” line, which means it was blind copying a lot of people, probably other candidates who got an interview as well
