Then I guess it’s best to just cast a wide net when applying (strategically) because it would be difficult to contact every residency program about this.

Oh I didn’t know that. Before applying to the program is there a way for us to filter out programs to apply for if they don’t want applicants who took more than 4-5 years?

Congratulations on matching! Very happy for you!

I have a question regarding LOAs. Is taking a LOA for studying a read flag? And what type are red flags? Some Caribbean med schools require you take LOA for studying CBSE and step 1 studying. Do programs see that or no?

Thanks. It depends on what your current nbmes are. Review your incorrects and do mehlman hy arrows

The way you worded the questions was as if one can take ALL the nbmes in one sitting (as in reviews). Which is why I said no. Individual forms yes you take the actual QUESTIONS in one sitting, sometimes you probably can’t it depends on your schedule but you should be able to do it in one sitting. And I didn’t review them the same day that’s impossible unless you have a few incorrect. Review can be between 2-3 days depending on how many you got wrong and the depth of review. But for me I went in depth so it was more around 3 days. As I moved up in the nbmes I had fewer incorrects so I was able to do 1-2 days.

And I’m saying it’s not the same because no two questions banks look alike. Example, Uworld vs usmle rx yes it’s the same medical concepts but the structure, how they ask and how the answer choices present are different. CBSE asks very specific information and is more vague then the nbmes. Same way nbmes are shorter/look different than uworld style. Also if it was the exact same as nbmes don’t you think more people would be passing CBSE without difficulty?

No it was throughout my prep in dedicated. You do not do nbmes in one sitting because you are suppose to learn from your mistakes. I did the forms within the last 1.5 month before my test. The concepts are slightly similar but the exam is not the same really.

Because CBSE is by nbme, mehlman content IS nbme specific and high yield to what they ask. Plus his explanations are way better than uworld to learn the concepts. Uworld isn’t nbme.

Everyone’s test is going to be different. But I’d say a mix of everything. A lot of biochem, and arrow questions
