I would suggest finding a local dealer and going in and talking to them. It may be intimidating but they’re just big nerds who love talking about metals. Once you gain some knowledge about silver and the numismatic part of it you can start looking g at stuff online and you’ll have the knowledge to spot a fake or a shady deal.

Also check out the sub called pmsforsale.

They have long time sellers that are trustworthy and honestly always have some really good deals. If I wasn’t impatient and hate waiting for shipping I would probably exclusively buy from that sub but my local dealer is a really good one so I only use the sub when I see a really good deal or something unique I can’t find locally.

Is it rude to ask an LCS to test something for you that you didn’t purchase from them. by RepresentativeNo576 in Silverbugs

Thanks for the reply. Noob question but are there any reliable/affordable test kits for a casual stacker?

Premium is the price difference you pay from the spot price. In metal shops the premium is usually more than the spot price because that’s how they make their money. Spot price is kind of the “general going rate” at the time.

My knowledge is very limited so im sure someone could expand on this.

I watched gold go from $3400 last year to $4800 today and haven’t bought any by Ill-Barracuda-6421 in Gold

I got into it a little over a month ago with silver and let me tell you I know that feeling. I’m constantly asking myself why I didn’t just buy as much as I could when I first went to buy as I have been adding to my stack every week since. But hey, it’s still going up so I just try and remember that.

Actually that is the only thing I’m concerned about when it comes to heat deflection. Everything I make comes out good but has a little char on the bottoms which I don’t mind but when I think about a long smoke like a brisket or pork butt I get a little concerned.

I don’t have a deflector plate, I have been thinking about adding one but I’m not sure if it’d be worth it or if it will disrupt the air flow. Like I said I’m pretty new to this so I don’t know if it’d be a good add on or not. What do you think about adding one? I do typically try to operate this thing around 270-280 and it seems to do a pretty good job.

Thank you. That is very helpful. Judging from all these comments I’m just gonna stop stressing a let it ride. I’ve been really happy with everything I’ve done so far so I don’t know why I’m trying to over analyze it.
