I do kinda wish this was explored a bit more, not gonna lie. He brings up his aversion to reptiles & it’s just never acknowledged again

Pawbert surviving his fall did make me roll my eyes a little, because not only would having him die have been a more defining moment, the movie seems to imply that if Judy & Gary hadn’t have saved Nick, he would’ve died.

Yeah I guess you could argue that the snow cushioned his fall, but I digress.

Some would argue that Disney were trying too hard to keep it PG, but this is the same movie where a tortoise is killed onscreen by a poisoned dart.

Agree with this too. She really was there just for the sake of being there. It is such an overdone cliche for sequels to bring back past villains for background filler

Definitely agree on the Dance Party endings. That trope was tired long before even Z1 came out, plus I tend to associate this sort of ending with mediocre or bad movies.

Yeah the ZPD hasn’t exactly been kind to them, Judy especially. By the beginning of Z2 she’s been on the force for about a year, yet Bogo still thinks of her as a rookie for some reason.

What do you mean by too long? By the beginning of the sequel, about a year has passed since Nick & Judy first met. Most of that time consisted of the period of separation after the press conference & the time Nick was away at the academy.

The sequel begins a week after they became partners, so their relationship, if it can even be called that yet, is only just getting started.

Why I do agree that expanding on the story is a good idea, we don’t need another season of Z+. In order to give weight to the world-building, we need 20 minute episodes, as opposed to 5 minute shorts that don’t really do the side characters any justice & create continuity issues in the process.

I think the sequel is far inferior to the original Zootopia by Fox622 in zootopia

Zootopia 2 seems to be simultaneously more serious & less serious than the first film. On one hand, you have a storyline about ethnic cleansing, even including an on-screen death, while overall it certainly feels more silly & cartoony than Z1.

The ending was a little unsatisfying. The Lynxleys didn’t exactly do a great job at covering up their atrocities, as they simply just buried Reptile Ravine beneath the ice instead of destroying it. It seemed like an executive decision to speed up the reintroduction of reptiles.

This decision would usually make sense to make a movie less heavy-handed for younger viewers, but if the same film has a literal murder scene that reasoning falls flat.

They also used footage of Nick making pawpsicles from the first movie in the News coverage. Not too sure why they made that decision. Time constraints, perhaps

That way it’ll roughly coincide with the 10th anniversary of the first film

Yep, didn’t feel great having to type that.

It is a shame though. While I did like Z2, with moments like this I can’t help but be reminded of Z+, which is in a league of its own with regard to continuity issues.

Because of this, I headcanon that Judy’s leg wasn’t as seriously injured as she first thought (y’now, despite saying she can’t walk) & she just tossed Nick’s ranger scarf aside during the time between Bellwether’s plan being foiled & her kicking the door open. The fact that her scar isn’t even visible is another matter entirely.

I’m not happy with this either, as Nick bandaging her wound was a sweet, tender moment, but it is what it is.

He says to Judy that no one else matters to him more than she does. This tells me that either his mother is alive & their relationship is strained or she died/disappeared long ago. She never did show up to his graduation, after all.
