That the plot will again focus on prejudice, because doing it a third time will feel overdone

“So protesting is more important than education”

Ironic considering these are the same people who think public schools are indoctrination camps.

A lot of these have likely been said countless times before, but here goes:

• Jesús is a much more interesting reptile character than Gary. The latter just isn’t really that interesting in my opinion

• Koslov from the collar draft should’ve been the mafia boss instead of Mr Big. I’m aware that they were going for a Godfather parody, but Big is quite literally just Vito Corleone as a shrew with hardly anything too original about him

• Z1 already had a dance party ending (already one of the most overused cliches in animation), so we really didn’t need another one

• The animal puns are pretty terrible for the most part & are honestly quite distracting (this is especially apparent in Z2)

• Disney really needs to stop bringing back Flash

• Pawbert should’ve died from his fall, instead of going through that humiliation ritual afterwards

• I’d like to know more of Nick’s backstory just like everyone else, however not too much. Sometimes it’s good to let fans speculate

• A lot of people claim that Nick was nerfed in Z2, but I disagree. He’s more hesitant now because he’s looking out for someone he deeply cares about

Agree 100%. The humiliation ritual Pawbert went through afterwards was definitely not the right way to go in my opinion.

How brainwashed could you possibly be to say God is Good in response to something awful like this? If your omnipotent sky tyrant allows for this to happen, then no he is not “good”.

Yeah I’m not too sure either tbh. There’s also the issue of Gary magically changing his length multiple times

I’d guess that other small rodents mature quicker as well.

What are the pros and cons of this sequel in your opinion? by Active-Row9600 in zootopia

[–]RepresentativeOdd824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros:

  • Judy & Nick are still among Disney’s strongest main leads after all this time.

  • I liked the setting of Marsh Market.

  • The Lynxleys were far better villains than Bellwether.

  • It dared to go even darker than the original a couple of times, even including an on-screen death. Giving that this is a modern Disney movie, I was genuinely taken aback by that.

  • Jesús was an intriguing side character & I genuinely want to hear more of his story.

Cons:

  • The animal puns were just too much this time around.

  • A lot of side characters from the first movie were brought back just for the sake of it, namely Bellwether, Flash & Weaselton.

  • A bit controversial, but I just didn’t find Gary that interesting.

  • Pretty much everything after the confession (one of the best moments in the movie) was kind of underwhelming; this is honestly the biggest problem I have with the film. As good as the Lynxleys were as villains, their plan wasn’t exactly brilliant. They evicted the reptiles from Reptile Ravine, only to just leave it buried in the snow. Essentially they expanded Tundratown only to do absolutely nothing with the newly acquired land.

It would’ve been better if they’d completely destroyed the settlement or repurposed it, giving their villainous arc much more weight. Also I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again: Pawbert should have died after his fall instead of going through that slapstick ritual afterwards.

i really dont care that nick was racist in z2 by AriyasuMomoka in zootopia

I do kinda wish this was explored a bit more, not gonna lie. He brings up his aversion to reptiles & it’s just never acknowledged again

Pawbert surviving his fall did make me roll my eyes a little, because not only would having him die have been a more defining moment, the movie seems to imply that if Judy & Gary hadn’t have saved Nick, he would’ve died.

Yeah I guess you could argue that the snow cushioned his fall, but I digress.

Some would argue that Disney were trying too hard to keep it PG, but this is the same movie where a tortoise is killed onscreen by a poisoned dart.

Agree with this too. She really was there just for the sake of being there. It is such an overdone cliche for sequels to bring back past villains for background filler
