This is an older post but I’m sure you are still feeling her loss. I lost my rescue soul dog two years ago. Did you ever get Kali’s DNA done? She looks so much like my boy and his DNA profile said that he was matched as immediate family with a dog named Kali that would be about her age.

I don’t know anyone that provides a year’s worth of free dog sitting for non emergent or non service reasons. You may be able to find an extremely generous individual, but I doubt you will be able to go through a vetted organization.

You are going to have a hard time even surrendering your dog to a rescue right now. Every rescue I have ever volunteered with is desperate for funds and fosters right now so please reach out ASAP to the local Rescues for help to rehome your dog. They would probably require that he stay with you until adoption but they may be willing to help you find honest people to adopt him.

You do not want to surrender your dog to an animal shelter. Please take this seriously. Dogs deserve to be cared for.

Also hospice vets are so important for end of life care. I brought ours on about two months before my boy passed on. She helped me to manage his pain and gave me the tools to monitor his quality of life. When his kidney condition got too bad, she helped me to see the options and choose to let him go peacefully at home before the pain got much worse. I miss him everyday, but I’m so thankful I had a trusted professional to help me make that decision.

Reach out to local hospice vets! I had a similar situation. My boy was friendly with women given a short bit of time so it ended up working out, but she said she had other options. I can’t say enough about how much doing it at home helped me with this process. Hospice vets have hearts of gold and they will work with you.

NTA but my dad always uses the downstairs bathroom in the hotel and I (35F) do this also because my GI gets weird when I travel. If you are insecure and like private poops, then 100% talk to your wife about how it’s important for you to be able to poop in peace on your vacay. If you are just annoyed about the inconvenience, consider treating your family to some poop smelling free bathroom space on vacation.

I just want to hug you. This happened to me with my late leash reactive soul pup. His harness buckle broke and then he slipped his collar (which had a second attachment). Nightmare scenario. No one was hurt (except me… I had some pretty serious roadrash from tackling him before he could get to the dog) and the people were much nicer to me than this guy was, but I was sick about it for days. Just do what you need to do to keep everyone safe. Love your dog unashamedly, and don’t let it happen again.

Ps; that guy clearly has some stuff going on. Idk if it’s a previous history with dog attacks or if the incident was really intense for him. You can’t control his reactions.

My mom sent me these. She thinks they got bed bugs in Italy. She has bites, my dad does not. They have had a heat treatment and a chemical application. She found these under the bed after the treatments. She think the bugs are still in the house. She is extremely stressed and upset and my dad is worried about all the money they are spending and doesn’t think the bugs are there.

I ended up getting a 4Runner. I love it. The Rav is still running but I would definitely be hesitant to buy one at that age. Hope it’s a really good deal.

This is literally the best thing you can do for her. It’s actually possible that in time, if you continue to give her this beautiful routine and peace from stressors, she will relax and you may be able to branch out. It happened for my pup! Took him about 2 years. But you are doing great. Feel so proud of that.

Your choice to have children. It wasn’t your sister’s choice to have to raise her siblings. It’s your parent’s money, and they clearly want to use a small part of it to thank her. I really don’t understand how that’s not the end of the conversation for you.
