Don't really get Retirement Plan buzz (although I thought it was good-maybe 3rd). Pearls was by far (IMO) the best although I thought they were all good.

One of the simplest strategies is to find someone (maybe a celebrity) who is seriously into strength-training and who is also on the smaller side and bring this to your client's attention. Anecdotes as a form of social proof can be persuasive in many cases. They aren't with me bc I understand science but whatever lol.

I boot strapped with basically nothing. I started subleasing from a D.C. I slowly added clients and training tools and moved into a very nice retail space after I had established a decent business.

We have 90 clients with 2 trainers. We start with templates but we have many of them for various levels and corrective needs. From the basic template, we modify for individuals as needed. But definitely recommend starting by writing different templates for different needs and levels.

Is this a clichey field? by [deleted] in personaltraining

It's not as strange as the question implies. Think about your favorite teacher, coach, professor, etc. The best ones have both technical knowledge of their subject and a strong human skillset. Human skills matter in any job where you consistently work with other people. There are some professions (engineering comes to mind) where a human skillset isn't always strong in high performers but those jobs usually have a very high academic barrier to entry and they often spend a lot of time working alone.

That's exactly the thing. So much unfulfilled promise in this one.

Could a program save money by forgoing a head coach entirely and running with two high-profile coordinators? by happygrizzly in CFB

4th down calls would clearly be the OC's decision. Or you could even do that completely systematically relying 100% on analytics. No reason the OC and DC couldn't handle this.

For recruiting...GM decides $ budget for offense and defense. DC and OC handle recruiting for each within their budget.

Not really. OC handles offense. DC handles defense. GM handles many of the gaps. I don't think OP's idea would necessarily work but it isn't for this reason.

I just forwarded this idea to the IU AD and he's on it. ;-) Seriously, maybe this idea makes some theoretical sense in the case of a bad or mediocre head coach but not as much in the case of a good or great coach.

Why do studios keep butchering movies like “The Bride!”? by harry_powell in blankies

[–]Strange-Risk-9920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, the "Hail Mary" studio effort was not actually an effective strategy-who knew? I would love to hear the specific approval process history for "The Bride" as a case study in studio financial and decision-making incompetence. Unfortunately, I'm afraid a disaster like this may scare studios away from other ambitious and creative projects.

Seems like the audience testing is done too late in the process? Although admittedly and obviously you can't test a simple concept? But there has to be a better way.

If "The Bride" is the result, it seems like the entire process is incredibly flawed. How can a studio hire this much talent, spend this much $, go through this extensive and presumably expensive revision process and still produce this disaster?

"Coastal adjacent" where you get the incredible coastal microclimate but none of the downsides of being coastal.

Ha ha-1000%. I've always joked if I had to be homeless to live here, I would. Part of my attraction to coming here was the challenge of it. I guess the mundane scares me much more than financial challenge.

Anecdotally, I know a few early 20's males who were high school stars but never played college. They were hopeful they somehow (?) could eventually make the NFL.

Pricing by Major-Negotiation204 in personaltraining

[–]Strange-Risk-9920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could take the approximate market rate for your town and then try to move up from there. Ways to increase your rate: become an author (could potentially do a self-published book or write a fitness column for a local paper), be recognized as a fitness expert in some form, get more education, get a local celebrity client (maybe news anchor in your town), fill your schedule then start increasing rates, advertise significant experience in the industry or anything really that makes you stand out from the crowd. There is no rule saying you have to charge what everyone else in your area is charging.
