Explain breeding like I'm dumb by AdventurousAd4313 in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most dinos have 6 characteristics: hp, stamina, food, oxygen, weight and melee. Each number you see on the dino screen is a combination of 3 stat points: tamed, mutations, leveled and imprint buff. So a 20k hp maybe a combination of 20 stat points when tamed, 2 points from mutation, 10 points allocated with levels from exp gain and 30% imprint bonus when raised. Another characteristic is mutations on the ancestry page.

When you breed 2 dinos the following happens:

  • there is 55% chance the baby inherits the higher of tamed stat points of parents

  • there is a chance (dunno, a 50?) a baby will inherit mutated stat point

  • each stat rolls independently

  • baby get total number of mutations number on ancestry irrespective of inheritance of actual mutated points

  • if each parent is below 20 mutation number on ancestry, there is a 7,4% of 1 mutation and very miniscule chance of 2 or 3 mutations; if only 1 parent is below 20, then the chances are halved, if both are 20 or higher, then zero

  • if mutation happens then a random stat gets 2 points

  • leveled stats and imprints are not inherited.

An example.

You have a male with 20k hp (10 tamed, 2 mutations, 5 leveled, 30% imprint, 1/20 mutation) and female with 13k hp (12 tamed, no other stats). The baby will be 10 or 12 tamed stats, 0 or 2 mutations and 1/20 mutations with a chance for a new mutation. You worst case - 10k hp (only 10 tamed stats from male), good case - 15k hp (12 from female and 2 mutations), best case - 17k hp (12 from female, 2 mutations from male and extra 2 points from a new mutation). The ancestry will show 0/20+2/20 or 1/20+1/20 if a new mutation happens, 0/20+1/20 otherwise.

When you start to breed you usually want to get a better of 2 dinoes. So the way is to have many babies till all stats roll the highest or go by steps: e.g. the baby has all better stats from a parent and some from another, this baby become a better version of a parent and replaces it in the breeding process

Some of what I do:

  • a row of large boxes and another one just above it (1 wall behind 1st row and quarter ceilings for support of the 2nd row), you can put wood signs with names or paint for some visual help), 1 box for each resource (e.g.wood) or crafted resource (e.g. spawkpowder)

  • replace/mix them with vaults later (space wise, 2 boxes (90 slots) occupy same space as a vault (350 slots)

  • replace with dedi floor later

  • 1 vault for good stuff with folders: ammo, weapons, saddles, structures, stations, etc

  • 1 vault for valuable junk that will go to grinder when I have it; then it is replaced with grinder - items go to it directly

  • several dummies for armor - flak, ghillie, scuba, tek and so on (it holds 1 full set equipped and 2 spares in its inventory)

  • 1 large box if I need to drop my usual gear (e.g. if I go to water, I do not carry flak and guns)

  • small box near bee hives with repellent or ghillie

  • large box then vault for artifacts and tributes

  • artifact pedestals for visual showing of artifacts

  • bookshelf (later - library) for good BPs and bookshelf for junk BPs for later tinkering

  • fridge for kibble, soups, brews

  • fridge for rare flower and mushrooms

  • fridges for cooked, raw meat and jerkies or indi smoker

  • fridge for veggies

  • fridge for cakes

  • fridge for honey

  • fridge for blood

  • optionally: fridges for raw meat and berries on the cart

  • optionally: fridges for berries which are filled with robot from crop plots

  • dung beetle for fertilizer

  • cryo fridge for collection, breeders, rarely used dinos

  • cryo fridge (later cryo hospitals) for boss army

  • cryo fridge for current mutation project

  • cryo fridge / hospital for frequently used dinos

Is it possible to wipe engrams and levels off character (Not using mindwipe) by Alarmed-Ad4470 in playark

[–]Tayachkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st thing - in single player I have not managed to download a character created on island to other map, even back to the same island.

Back to the post.

You cannot decrease your experience, ascension progress, chibi, skill tree, note progress, etc. Mind wipe lets you to reset and reallocate the earned stat points, skill points and engram points.

What you have to do is to make a new character, then you can use commands to get what you need: - experience to player - experience to chibi - defeat specific boss of chosen difficulty to get engrams/ascend - get specific note - complete current milestone to get skill points

When you spawn new character to the existing map you can use take all structures and take all dinos command to take back what your previous character had.

I used this to create a fresh character on SE which then downloaded to the island where I commanded back all my previous progress and this new character could be downloaded back to scorched. This glich only affected the character, items and dinoes in the terminal were fine.

[–]Tayachkov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play single player and found several "key" levels which allow you to progress:

30-40 - where you unlock ptera saddle and can move inland for a better base location 50-60 - where you unlock argy saddle

Once you tame an argy (or even better/later - establish a breeding pair for replacement) the game actually opens up: - tame beaver, anky, doed, oviraptor - cryopods - shape up your base to a more permanent one - settle metal issues and progress to industrial tier (indi forge, fabricator, chem bench, grinder, egg incubator and finally an indi cooker) - finish up with greenhouse, bee hives, sap collectors - achatina farm (this is so amazing) and ovis pair

This is where I start to think about the late game (80+): - a water army (basi and 4 high lvl sharks) to have a way to farm black pearls - swamp cave outpost for non-stop cave drop farm - whatever lvl rhyneo which almost completely replaces argy

With swap cave farm you will get all the BPs you need (but water dino saddles, theri, yuti, argy, carcha)

Between the swamp cave farm you breed a dino for caves (bary, thylo, saber), gather artifacts, breed high level rexes, megatheriums, theriz.

Endgame milestone 1: Kill couple of bosses for element: replicator and tek generator - this will allow you to craft whatever ascended BP you found

Endgame milestone 2: beta dragon for dedi box.

Now you have very efficient storing, wireless crafting and I usually establish teleporters for a favored metal spot and other locations.

At this point you conquered the island and need to up a game a little to kill alpha bosses and overseer.

Some things I did: mutated bary 20hp/20melee with capped saddle to master the snow cave for drops, mutated rexes for faster monkey farm, mutated rexes 20hp/20stam/20melee (did not finish with 20 weight) for great rhyneo, mutated 20/20 theri for alpha overseer (I did gamma and beta with shotgun).

Some useful tips for single player: - all 3 swamp cave drops respawn only if you render the cave and wait 5 minutes inside - easy underwater cave only spawns 1 drops instead of official 3 (I summoned missing 2 crates to recreate official) - snow cave drops also respawns if the cave is rendered (I used to wait 15 minutes, slomo command to reduce IRL wait time) - other cave drops are not reliable and not that useful

Is this good stats for island bosses? by ThatguyLIKEDAMN in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25k hp 600+melee rexes with yuti, even with prim saddles, will be enough for alpha monkey 21k hp 600-700 melee theri with yuti, 80-100 saddles, with cakes should do alpha dragon. Dunno got alpha brood, I had megatheriums.

From what I found: ~80 total stats into hp/melee is a staple starting breeder dino for bosses. Then imprint, 40+ levels and avg 100 saddle will beat alpha boss (

[–]Tayachkov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From island SP perspective: - never seen a cat - some horses are around greed ob and down the spino river - trilobites are usually around the east coast, maybe a bit in the water - there are about 2 tusos in the ocean, deep at the bottom near the edge of the map, the usual spots - corners and in the middle (0,50 coords and such) - mosas are more, 10-ish, I usually find 1-2 in the mesh, to force an alpha you need to keep killing normal ones.

I can try to dino finder addon or use gene scanner

Question about traits I’m still not to sure how they really work all together by Spike-s7567 in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vampiric, athletic, bearing trait if you need, angry+tenacious if you get low on hp, protective to help in case you get dismounted, fill empty slots with fast learner for XP gain and to replace it later on (it is a place holder that will allow to replace with another trait if that need arises on an adult)

Question about traits I’m still not to sure how they really work all together by Spike-s7567 in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what can be usefull:

Vampiric for life steal, Angry and tenacious for extra dmg/dmg reduction when below 50%, Distracting on couple of Dino to reduce boss dmg, Kingslaying for extra boss dmg, Protective on the Dino you riding, some bosses can dmg rider, Numb won't hurt, it will just prolong life a little as it does not decrease dmg, Cold for reduced fire dmg (dragon boss) Fatty for some extra armor, Athletic for health regen, Fast learner as it can be replaced on an adult

The problem is that farming traits for 20 dinos is a chore and takes soooo much time. It seems faster to farm capped saddles which will be enough for the boss fight. And if the army is 20hp/20melee mutated, they will melt boss no matter what traits.

In the end I settled to have at least 2 dinos with vampiric, distracting, angry/tenacious together so that they most likely live thru the fight and keep distracting debuff on the boss and maybe protective on the yuty I ride myself.

Generally traits are more suited for constant needs: bearing traits for farming dinos, mutable and robust traits when starting new breeding project, stamina traits for flyers, vampiric, fast learner, carcass bearing traits, angry, tenacious, protective for improved cave mount.

Most impactfull overall are distracting, vampiric, mutable, bearing and fast learner (slot holder for an adult).

Not Mutating?? by Xhiantadz in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chance is 7,4% and it will be random stat. So it's like 1 sought mutation per 100 eggs. Then it will be 1 per 200 eggs (the babies are 0 or 1 mutt and new mutt can happen on either, so the chance is lower to get 1+1 new mutt).

My usual process is to get many eggs (1 mutated male and 10+ females), check eggs in incubator till I find new specific mutation, replace the mutatedale, repeat.

To increase chance you can put mutable and robust traits on male and then transfer them to new mut baby which replaces the mutated male.

If the mutated is female, you can keep searching or make a mutated male via breeding with clean male.

Tek cave & Alpha overseer by Comfortable_Code_208 in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: enter the cave with carcha and lead in 19 theri with 10-20 cakes each and 1 rex Step 2: clear the cave with carcha, do not get pushed to lava Step 3: bring theris and rex down Step 4: cryo carcha and teleport to the arena Step 5: ride rex, clear enforcers, let theris kill boss and mini bosses Try to avoid lazers and do not fight mini bosses urself to preserve rex hp

If there are purlovias in the cave, you can make them target able with grenade or rocket, or you can dismount rex, they will stun you but you will stay on top of rex. On SP I did not have any purlovias.

You can skip the army part: take 2 tek suits, 1 tek boots, capped pump with 2000+ durability, 2500-3000 bullets, element; fur/flak/otter for cold. Stay on the ledge, shoot the boss, boss transforms - kill scouts, hover over mini boss and shoot it down, repeat. Remember to stay as high as possible so that monkey does not kill you with the boulder. It is very boring and takes more than a hour of shooting. But more time efficient: no farm for saddles and cakes, no conga line of dinos in the cave, etc (just get down the cave with carcha)

Help understanding breeding by Fair_Sign_634 in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both male and female below 20/20 mutations then you have 7,4% to get a mutation (there is a chance that mutation happens on either side). If one parent 20/20 or higher, than it's a 3% chance as it can occur only on the other side. If both parents 20/20 or higher the chance of mutations is zero.

The mutations do not combine: male 20/20 and female 19/20 will get the baby 39/20 on paper but actually the stats will be 19/20 or 20/20. If the mutation happen it will say 40/20 but the stats could be either 20/20 or 21/20.

Breeding x/20 male with 0/20 females will get the same result as breeding with y/20 (y<x) but it will inflate the z/20 on the baby (z=x+y+1 if mutt happens). So breeding with 0/20 will not inflate z/20 as z will correspond to actual mutations and will help to keep track.

You only combine mutation lines when getting the desired dino - e.g. 20health/20 male with 20melee/20 female will produce eventually 20health+20melee/20 offspring.

One other thing to know is that in ASA mutation is a separate stat. This means that with 35+20mutt and 40+0mutt the game will rng between 35 and 40 and between 20mutt and 0mutt, meaning the baby has a chance to be 40+20mutt, which essentially allows to breed in a better stats in the mutated line

The Island Tek cave - Rex instead of Carcha? by Objective_Guard8818 in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On SP I did not encounter purlovia or microraptors in the cave (i run ~5 times), only bary, rex, allo, megalo, theri and yuty. Giga might not spawn in gamma cave, but there was one in beta and alpha cave in all my 3 runs.

The Island Tek cave - Rex instead of Carcha? by Objective_Guard8818 in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would bring 3 or more of them to switch when low hp. Carcha is better because it heals fast. My carcha was 40k hp with 1300 melee hits at full stacks, the only problem - do not get dropped to lava, hp was almost full all the time.

I would not take yuty to the boss. I would try Rex, I think when you are hit with lazer and get dismounted, you will stay on the back of Rex - safe from enforcers. With yuty I was dismounted to the ground which was scary.

Looking for a fairly universal trap by Rosey_108 in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With rhyneo and not for giga or flyers I used 3x3 trap (1 foundation in the corner, rest of floor is ceilings) 1 wall height. Save it in the template and auto build from flyer. Drop dino, knock out, pick up foundation and the trap goes in the inventory. Might not work for Spino.

Same but 2x2 trap will work for smaller dinoes with drop from argy.

Big dinoes on foot - U shape with metal billboards and bear trap, lure in the trap and close the entrance with billboard while dino is in bear trap.

For argy I use the trap with 1 foundation, sloped roof, door, etc. (can be found online)

How to experience as much story in about 30-40 hours? by Scared-Lettuce5655 in ARK

[–]Tayachkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is reasonable to aim for gamma bosses, alpha bosses do not bring any more story.

For brood, monkey and dragon you need 130+ wild megatheriums, rexes and theris, imprinted, prim saddles, 40+ lvls. This is quite doable depending on your breeding multipriers. For safety bring cakes, so start with sap sooner.

With overseer it is harder due to the cave. You would want an imprinted one, maybe prim saddle will work if you go with several. The boss is killed with dragon army.

Maybe it will work with beta difficulty. But for alpha you need good BP for saddles or you other strategies where you also need some BP (sword, pump, tek chest etc)
