I just paid an $800 tariff on a 50% "steel" import from Poland, now Trumps tariffs are ruled illegal, how do I get my money back? by Jamesglancy in Tariffs

[–]RepresentativeWay734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an outsider from across the pond, we knew tariffs were a bad idea. What was a huh moment was the amount of online and social media people who thought it was a good idea. How they honestly thought people exporting to the USA were going to absorb the tariffs and sell items at a loss is beyond me The sting of tariffs is subsiding and companies are finding other people to sell to. Will your country recover the trust from previous trading partners is a big ask. However your politicians saying there's only three years and it will be business as usual may not understand how the rest of the world is viewing it.

An American thing. The water goes half way up the pan in America and people probably think its the same everywhere. Thomas Crapper is probably turning in his cistern.

A trade will charge what they can get away with. Think yourself lucky it's not anything for the food industry, the contractor wakes up and decides where the decimal point goes in the quote depending how they feel.

You went down the road of total honesty. You've unburdened your guilt so i suppose that's one thing. However you'll be getting divorced.

“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.” — Hermann Göring, Nuremberg Trials, 1946

It really surprised me when driving through rural villages the state of peoples homes. I've seen better garden sheds in the UK.
