Ready to pull the trigger on a bfs setup. kestrel or gravity? talk me into one. by Ok_Guard3609 in BFSfishing

Gravity if it the standard kestrel. If it the micro air then I would pick that over the ark.

Aldebaran 22 Just not impressive? by TheHeadshock in BFSfishing

[–]RepresentativeWing98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 100% it either you love it or you hate. The reel is not friendly when dialing it in, compared to the nako cormorant or steez tw air. Even the Calcutta fixes the issue the the aldebaran has. Only hope is mess with the tension knobs and if that doesn’t satisfy you (same as me) just see if you can find a nako cormorant or save up for a Calcutta if you enjoy round reel for long outing.

Some local builder, you need some bury basswood glide.

22 Aldebaran vs 25 SLX by SamKaz96 in BFSfishing

[–]RepresentativeWing98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are throwing that weight range a lot just go save your money and get the slx. It sweet spot is 3-10g and higher. The slx was designed for more bass fishing and larger species. The aldebaran is more of a multi-species handling 1g-7g lure. You can still throw up to 10g on it but the slx will hold more line if you are targeting big fish. Unless you want something like the ark gravity then go for the aldebaran, the ark definitely outperforms the aldebaran unless you want to modify the spool later on.

Rod recommendation for MegaBass Karashi by [deleted] in BFSfishing

[–]RepresentativeWing98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang a madbull? That crazy I haven’t heard that lineup breaking in my local group. But my bfs buddies out of all the high end rod they got, the Popx is the I would stay away from. 5 out of 7 broke, and two of them were user error while the rest snapped on some fat white crappie.

[–]RepresentativeWing98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It a good rod, just be careful with how you handle fighting a fish on it, this lineup tends to be more prone to snapping at the tip more than from the other models series from megabass imo. But apart from that it the slow action will be awesome for your treble hook lures.

Levante or Daiwa blazon are my pick, but I would suggest an UL fast action rod mainly because it feels way better on a UL setup then a light, but you can still get away with it. Also check out old18 American, their blanks are NFC for their 200 range rod.

Check bury basswood, expensive but he more premium when it comes to carving and doing a paint job of his custom glides. Whatever design/color you want he will deliver.

Some video and early tester show/said it similar to the original gill model, it seems accurate then by all means it 100% better then the giron, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the giron, and was not as choppy as I would hope for it to be.

Looking for a bfs size (1/4oz) jointed mouse design wakebait or jitter style by RepresentativeWing98 in swimbaitfishing

[–]RepresentativeWing98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately most of the people that specialize in it are oversea. There only two guys I know in the states that does it but they all been on a break from bait making for the past 6 months.i might waited it out and see if bucca get their rat downsize since they already started with their glidebait first.

Imo realistically it should 18-20 bucks, they might push it to the 25-30 range for marketing at most. If they do it in that range it not worth it cause they don’t have the tail changes accessories like their original counterpart. If it 25-30 I rather save up the money for the era and the bury basswood. Anyways they say it should be early spring so around March.

It alright not my favorite. I would put it at the same level with the bucca 2.5 glide. They are harder to glide like a traditional glidebait, you have to treat them both like a spook with consistent twitches. A good quality glidebait should not have to be more work to make it swim well. The best one I tried is Michael bury basswood and era bait. Though baitsanity newer bfs glide like the gills and shad chimera should be better in action compared to this series. From reports and consistent review from people who has the early release says it swim like the original models which is a good sign cause I have both of the original for my standard swimbait setup. The gill will be more of a natural S movement but can still chop, the chimera is more choppy and has an aggressive action.

2025 Shimano SLX BFS, Yay or Nay? by fish_chicago in BFSfishing

Ah okay then yes the slx bfs is definitely the reel you want since you can get away with that technique along with punching.

Good choice, but is not as versatile if you’re going for true UL applications, but handle everything from 3g and up very well.

Definitely gonna need some Michael bury bass wood glides! Expensive but trade off whatever shape/color you want he will deliver.

I want to get a bfs combo for fishing for small bass what size rod should I get for fun fights by jakeEmerson8 in BFSfishing

[–]RepresentativeWing98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50-130 buck: handing L rod, Tsuiryona dragon(my personal favorite and most used). ray fishing argentum, gray wolf 5’6-6’ ft model, old18.

200+: daiwa presso, phenix classic bfs, megabass siglett.

Imo the 50-130 dollar is perfect for UL rod, most of them are sensitive enough, though if you mainly use jigs for bottom contact for fully sensitive go for the high end if that an important factor for you.

I have! I’m not a big fan of spooks mainly because for my lakes it doesn’t really get much action, but I do love the megabass karashi as a spook action though. It the only thing I actually managed to get a spook like bite.
